Friday (Revisited)
Halloween Cocktail
Ingredients:
- 2 oz bourbon
- 3 oz orange juice
- Juice of half lemon
- Ginger ale
- Garnish: Halloween olive
Mix bourbon, orange juice and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour into a tall glass. Top with ginger ale and garnish with Halloween-faced olives. (To make the Halloween olives, choose large unpitted green olives)
"Halloween-faced olives" - this recipe is a gas.
Cauldrons
A few years ago, I saw some guy selling junk on his lawn and pulled over when I saw an iron cauldron. He told me that it was a hundred years old and that he'd let it go for the right price. I flashed a twenty for the rusted 8 gallon cauldron and it was mine. Fortunately for me, the guy was very drunk at the time.
The thing was filled with rust chips which took flight when my car picked up speed. Before I could close the windows, my eyes had little pieces of flaked orange iron in them.

Chartreuse
It's from a recipe protected by Carthusian monks living in a monastery in the Chartreuse Mountains. It's made from 130 herbal extracts, flowers, and secret ingredients blended with a wine alcohol base.
It's green.
I first heard about Chartreuse back in 1992 in Poppy Z. Brite's novel "Lost Souls" and assumed it was a fictional beverage. After spotting it (and buying it) in a liquor store many years ago, I've always made a point to own a bottle. Potent stuff. And there's just something about it that reminds me of Halloween.

Kreepy
Aside from having the coolest name, SkullandBone's Kreep is an angry, vile, pumpkin-headed creature that looks quite alive. Almost as if it has just spotted someone it intends to harm...or kill....or eat (or all of the above in that order).
Was looking at their site tonight and wanted to slap up an entry on The Kreep.
Such an original Halloween creation. It's truly a classic.
