OMG!!!! I actually saw this at the drive in theater....hahaha! For the life of me I cannot imagine how Timothy Dalton landed in this one...no idea!!! It was so bad it was good! : D
Max von Sydow and Queen deliver masterfully with a full understanding of what a space opera should be.
Meanwhile, Timothy Dalton seems to act as though he's sure he's starring in Macbeth, and Brian Blessed may actually be doing a movie all his own. (Never mind Ornella Muti who COULD have been a movie all her own)
It's somehow insane, glorious, grand, and insipid all at once, and along with Buckaroo Banzai, Flash Gordon is one of those bits of early 80's lunacy I can't imagine ever tiring of.

haha. Totally both bad and epic at the same time. I can't think of any other movie like it.
