Halloween 2009

Off from work after today. Won't be back til November 2nd. Always weird putting that leave slip in... "Oh, that's right. This is your time of year!" I'll usually hear.

It sure is.

We're going to squeeze every ounce of Halloween out of the coming week, savoring every aspect of it. Every minute will be spent getting ready for October 31st. Just finishing touches remain, so it'll be nice to fine-tune everything. Carving a massive heap of pumpkins, getting cornstalks and bags and bags of leaves, gathering up the witch jars and stacks of tea lights that smell of clove.

Blog entries will be spotty after today, but I'll definitely be around next week to post some images of our pre-Halloween activities (we have some neat plans). And I was just thinking that this year was the first year that I didn't post any teaser photos or video of my haunt's Corn Witch theme. The Pumpkin Sentinels are just that - watchers. And what they're watching over will hopefully make for a memorable Halloween display.

There will be lots of traditional elements too, anchoring the haunt firmly in everything I've always loved about Halloween.

And some surprises.

DOH! What will I do with my work day if I don't have your blog?!?!

I'll have to work myself up for the payoff, which will be those pix and vids! Can't wait.

Completed my first corpse! Thanks again for your inspiration.

It's always nice to see everyone getting in the spirit! Some times in my area it seems like Halloween goes largely forgotten or overlooked so it's a breath of fresh air to be reminded that there are others out there that love this holiday as much as I do. I'm borrowing some inspiration from your b&w shot of the pumpkin vine/tree for an armour design I'm making for the anual holloween event for an online game I work for, hope you don't mind. ¦) You shared some of your tips with me via email a while ago and I wanted to say thank you again. Happy Halloween!!! ~Wyrm

"Gods of power, Gods of might,
I bid you now, stop this plight,
Stop the rain, we need no more,
Let it fall, nevermore."

Looking forward to see your display this year. I don't know if having no teaser photos was a good thing or not!

The Hauntedeve crew is getting ready for October 31st as well. I will spend the next few days stressing out over the weather reports. As my wife says, "it is what it is, stop stressing over it".

Yeah, I'm with ya! I'm taking off the latter part of the week, and the first part of next week (recovery and clean-up). Yes, this is our time of year...that time when the Fall Children gather to celebrate the most fantastic of holidays! I absolutely revel in it, and always look forward to seeing your displays in the aftermath!
