Michael's Halloween 2011

Didn't really see many new items compared to last year, but it was still a ton of fun standing in all that Halloween.

Hmm.. Not terribly impressive. I have to admit that I go bonkers when they put up happy scarecrows and friendly Halloween stuff. It's rather insulting. It's like reinventing the flag for 4th of July. Just wrong. I wish someone would re-issue all the 50s to 70s Halloween stuff. Man, I would love to re-live that nostalgic creepy feel and those simple plastic masks that look slightly wrong.

I saw some witch stuff I need!! I don't have a Michaels near me, it's an hour away, dang it!! I love looking at Halloween decorations!! Bought some Bath and Body Halloween antibac soap and wallflower haunted house yesterday!! In my house it is Halloween all year round!

Yeah, the only new item I saw that I "need" is a candle holder. It's for a pillar, and is made of orange glass and has the silhouette of a great Halloween scene on it. (cat, witch, ghosts, spooky tree, etc). It's $20, but I have my 40% off coupon ready! :)

August already. I really need to get moving.

Yep. Too much glitter.
I blame Martha.

Autumnforest, couldn't agree more. I want the old classy stuff back.

Our local Michaels is still putting out goods, so I say, "give it a bit, maybe it will get better".
Autumnforest, I see what you are saying, but I firmly believe that friendly Halloween stuff has its place as much as the 50s to 70s stuff. The rustic side-by-side with the plastic is part of that juxtaposition that Halloween is all about, I believe. If we are talking about a celebration of an event when, folklorically speaking (just made up a word there), the worlds of the living and the dead conjoin, then the silly and macabre would seem to belong together.
Bran, I'm in total agreement about the glitter. Bling my Halloween is so three years ago. That's why I like the rustic stuff.
Frau Punkinstein went crazy on the window clings, which is all cool. I have pics but have yet to post it because I'm pacing myself. Unlike Mariah...I got no coupon yet.

Guten tag, Herr Punkinstein! (LOVE your name!) If ya google printable Michaels coupons, you can print yerself out a coupon and get started! :) Wiedersehen!

Ta very much, Mariah. Danke. I've just found out that Frau Punkinstein's photos of our Michaels swag are not on the camera...strange things are afoot and it is not yet September.

I agree, Michael's could be more impressive, but after all it is a craft store where whenever I'm there I'm way out numbered by little old ladies, soccer moms and their god forsaken offspring that seem to love the cutesly halloween stuff. On the other hand I picked up a rustic pumpkin and ghost earlier this evening that I can't seem to take my eyes off of. Hell, it's a craft store, if they don't have what your looking for, make it!

Oh! I am so excited! I went there a few weeks ago and was very disappointed that they did not have their Halloween goodies out yet. I shall have to do some shopping!
