Remakes...

Try to guess which film of the 80's is being remade by the description below (I'll post the answer as a comment):

"...the new version follows Eric Bowen and his family, who, after he loses his job, relocate to a new town to start over. His daughter, Madison, is abducted, making him truly understand what’s important in life: family. In the new version Eric’s wife, Amy, can communicate with the dead.
Another interesting new character is Carrigan Burke, a television personality who hosts “Haunted House Cleaners.” The supernatural doesn’t scare this guy. Dr. Brooke Powell, Carrigan’s ex-wife, is a parapsychologist at a local university, and her team investigates the supernatural events surrounding the disappearance of the Bowen girl."

At what point does it stop being a remake and just become a "we just wanted to use the name" ?

And like the YouTube video I saw of the blueray release of Prometheus. "All your questions will be answered" we get ur money seeing our flick, we butcher it, then try to lure u into buying it to see what we cut out. Wonder who will be directing this future bomb.

NOT POLTERGEIST. Ugh.

Has Hollywood run out of ideas for , or are they just too lazy to use their imagination.

Maybe we Haunters should get together and come up with something.

If they make it found footage it'll make a billion dollars. Because modern horror sucks. And people have horrible tastes.

I think that Mike Stoklasa summed it up well in the Plinkett review of the first Star Trek remake.

Hollywood is literally just going down their lists of intellectual properties, remaking, re-imagining, or making faux sequels of their IP's in order of name recognition.

This has two benefits. One is that it's risk-free, and two, it lets them refresh and renew their IP rights.

It's utterly cynical!

One of the many reasons I love redlettermedia.

So true. And really awful.
