Pay The Ghost

The film version of the only short story that has ever truly unnerved me - Pay the Ghost, by Tim Lebbon.  The trailer seems to be packed with Hollywood embellishments, so I'm already seeing signs that this is a super far departure from the original story.  Unfortunately.

Hoping I'm wrong, because the story, found in the Halloween anthology October Dreams, is truly brilliant.

Never heard of October Dreams, or this short story, sounds like cool short stories are in it. Kinda like Books of Blood which had short stories in it.

Not have read the story, the trailer looks good though.

Ok how can I read this story in full? Track down October Dreams?

The trailer looked unique, but Nicholas Cage?:/ I'm actually a fan of him getting work after all of his bad luck in his personal life but I dunno. Hope it's good!

Well, It's Cage. I'm not getting my hopes up :/

Funny.
I'm actually a fan of Cage's work.

My guilty pleasure is National Treasure 1 *and* 2. I thought he played his role well. :)

I do think there's a direct correlation between when his side burns disappeared and when his acting became a bit questionable though. ;)

Omgggg...Raising Arizona----the salad days!!!...<33333333
i really dig his sweet crazy quirky self.
NC totally broke my heart in Kick Ass.. : (

& then there's..

he's just perfect in that, cause he totally gets it. i'm gonna say, he has a larger than life, silent film star sorta quality to his earthbound self. i'll always always love em. Raising Arizona is possibly the most romantic movie ever filled with so much hope, NO matter what.<333

Rot, thanks to you I ordered a copy of Halloween Dreams last year. I LOVE this! And now have a copy of Halloween tree w/Grimsly illustrations. Both are by my bed all during the fall season. Thank you!

The story is so strange I can't imagine how they could follow it accurately on film. This looks good to me anyway.

I finally got to read this story in my copy of October Dreams. Richly written and definitely creepy. One of the best stories in the book (unlike "Buckets" but that's a story for another time...).

And as for Nic Cage being cast for the main role??

AHHHHHHH THE BEES. NOT THE BEES. THEY'RE IN MY EYES. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

This review makes "Pay The Ghost" Sound much more promising than I had thought.

We rented it and it was quite different from the short story I worship so much.

I can't say I'd recommend a viewing.
