The Haunted Slough: Halloween 2016

Always my great pleasure to host my friend Marianne Sexton's amazing Haunt.  She has the wonderful gift of creating another world, where creatures and vile things gather every October like the grim monster family in Ray Bradbury's The Homecoming.

And to see past years of her work, click here.

Man, I really love her stuff! The second pic of the guy with lights in his hair is my all time fav. Very Brian Froud-ish.

So much going on, I love it. I would have to visit it multiple times just to take it all in. Very original and shocking characters in there!

Wow!!! Thanks guys! Really! It's an honor to get to be part of this blog every year. And such a great thing to find "your tribe". I find inspiration from everyone one of you. : )

Rot, you are the "keeper of the flame". Thank you for all of your support!

Awwww..yeah!!!...Ray's, "The Homecoming" (& it's companion, "From the Dust Returned") is the PERFECT intro for this Lovely Collection of Misfits & Monsters. they feel like a secret society, like a halloween cabal. SO Beautiful & Exotic.

some of my favourite monsters & misfits of all time are Clive Barker's beautiful monsters from Nightbreed (aka Cabal) & JF Sebastian's, toy room (misfits) from Bladerunner. & i swear this haunt is somehow a Wonderful mixture of both worlds, a prefect blend. & i LOVE THAT SO Much!!!

i couldn't find a proper clip of the Bladerunner scene, i'm talking about, but, this one is like an intro to it...

my favourite pic is # 10....that skelly kid sitting on the bench, holding the plastic jackie!!! that poor soul looks sooooo lost & lonely...haunted that he's not a little boy anymore. i think it's something about the positioning of his legs, feet? i LOVE it. it's SO Ray Bradbury.

& i will Nevvvvver forget...the death of flaming june!!!..Exquisite.. : )

oopppss!!
it's a real jackie not a plastic one..sorry about that.
i think i was caught up in him wanting to go trick or treating.

Thanks, Girl6! That little skellie kid was one of my favorite shots and you were right the first time. A fake jacko. Too freaking hot and humid here in Texas for real ones. They turn to mush in just a couple of days. : (

I love all of the odd things here. I especially like the skeleton, sitting on the bench, kinda hunched over. Looks like he's waiting for something.

I would just love to walk around this and take it in. You are truly brilliant, year after year. It is definitely a highlight for me.

It really is a treat to see in person. There is so much to see and so much detail. If you can't have Rot in your neighborhood - this haunt is the next best thing.
