Anoka Halloween

I received some wonderful photos from Dan Wiswell of the Halloween capital of the world - Anoka, Minnesota.  As we dealt with temps in the low 80's, the fine folks of Anoka dealt with the white stuff - three inches of wet snow, with temps in the 30's.

Thanks, Dan!

Geez, snow for Halloween, that must really suck if you're a kid hoping to go TOTing.

Totally agree! Wearing a winter coat over your costume must be a total drag

Glad you liked the photos Rot! I can offer that the snow stopped at about 2 in the afternoon, and the wind died completely. I shoveled my yard off and my garage roof to put up the witch and Halloween ended up being great. We had over 200 trick or treaters! Concerning their costumes, the kids take it in stride, they're still having a great night. Since I've been haunting, the Halloween that doesn't include rain/snow has been the exception. 2022 was the nicest Halloween in about 25 years, sunny and 70 with a perfect warm evening. 2023? Freezing rain and several inches of snow the night before/Halloween morning. My last year of trick or treating personally was 1991. Google Minnesota Halloween Blizzard for some fun pictures/insights. We just celebrate here and make the best of it.

I wasn't exactly thrilled with our high of 78 degrees on the 31st, but I'll definitely take it over 30....neither screams 'autumnal' to me.

However, it also seems like the love for the season abides in every region, regardless of what the thermometer has to say, and that is fantastic.

I love the images here, and the implication that the entire town seems to have embraced the holiday to that extent.

While 30 degrees and three inches of snow would shut Atlanta down like it was the literal apocalypse, my guess is that Minnesotans probably just call that Thursday. ; )
