Winter Folk
The jolliest of all the major folk figure creations undoubtedly are snowmen. They belong exclusively to children and to those who celebrate the vagaries of Old Man Winter. They are the sand castles of an inclement season, and they are as fleeting as childhood itself.

Scarecrows
The book by Avon Neal and Ann Parker.
Just got this yesterday by the folks behind the previously-featured Ephemeral Folk Figures. A small book with a ton of color photos of tattered field people.
How I never saw these two books before is beyond me. But I'm happy to finally own them.
When I die, I better come back as a scarecrow.

Ephemeral Folk Figures
Some more images from the amazing book I mentioned before by Avon Neal and Ann Parker, exploring the folk art nature of scarecrows, harvest figures, and snowmen.
It felt kinda wrong scanning images from their book, so I snapped some photos instead (and they look creepier and cooler that way).
I'll be posting more in the coming weeks.

Bought a used copy of this amazing book. It's packed with so many wonderful photographs of incredible scarecrows.
It's currently my favorite thing.
