The Great Martian War

Currently watching this faux documentary, hilariously produced as though it were the real deal...  and trying to stay true to the timeline in H. G. Wells' The War of the Worlds.

Ancient Aliens

If ancient aliens visited Earth, what was their legacy, and did they leave behind clues that exist in plain sight such as sophisticated aircraft, complex electrical grids, and intricate construction machinery? Indian Sanskrit texts, dating back to 6000 B.C., describe in varying but vivid detail flying machines called Vimanas. Megalithic stone structures in Egypt reveal evidence of precision saw work. Interpretations of the Jewish Zohar writings offer depictions of a life-sustaining manna machine, eerily similar to chlorella algae processing systems today. Are these examples of modern technology, or is there evidence that these incredible mechanisms existed on Earth thousands of years ago?

The series premieres tonight on the History Channel.
I'll be watching.

The Flatwoods Monster

A recent episode of the History Channel's Monsterquest dealt with something I had never heard of - The Flatwoods Monster. Since grade school, I've tried to read as much about this kind of thing as I could, and I've never come across this weird tale.

Did a quick youtube search and found my favorite ufologist discussing the topic. Stanton Friedman is the man. I wish he were my uncle or something.

Monsterquest

I'm a huge fan of Monsterquest. We watch it all the time. Odd because every single show is destined to end in disappointment as the creature of the week is obviously NOT discovered. An entire series based on a build-up to a let-down. Still, it's fun getting there and listening to witnesses that seem really credible. A favorite episode dealt with the Jersey Devil. It featured a family that witnessed the creature one night during the winter. Huge and menacing, it swooped at them as they ran from their yard. A sculptor named Mike Melillo created a piece based on their descriptions. It was a very creepy figure and watching the mother and son react to seeing a 3 D representation of the creature that "attacked" them in their yard was chilling. A great sculpt and a great episode.

It turns out that the sculptor has his own Halloween yard haunt each year: Dr. Slickshill's Dead End of Horrors. Very cool.

Haunted History Of Halloween

We watched The History Channel's Haunted History of Halloween this weekend. Loaded with great imagery. It made it feel like it was Halloween weekend.

Took a bunch of screen caps:

This was very neat to see. A 70's yard haunt featuring two figures hanging from a tree. The smaller one on the right looked like a headless boy.

Halloween at the History Channel.
