Hexeglaawe: The Kecksburg UFO Incident
Pennsylvania's Roswell
On the evening of December 9, 1965, a large, brilliant fireball was seen in at least six U.S. states and Ontario, Canada as it streaked over the Detroit, Michigan–Windsor, Ontario area. Reports of hot metal debris over Michigan and northern Ohio, grass fires, and sonic booms in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area were attributed to the fireball. Some people in the village of Kecksburg, about 30 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, reported wisps of blue smoke, vibrations, and a "thump" and also that something from the sky had crashed in the woods.
In 1990, Unsolved Mysteries aired an episode partially devoted to the incident. It suggested an extraterrestrial craft had crashed. It featured local residents who said they had found an object in the woods shaped like an acorn and about as large as a Volkswagen Beetle, bearing writing resembling Egyptian hieroglyphs. They said it was subsequently removed in a secret military operation. A prop from that show currently remains on display in Kecksburg.
We traveled there in September for a look at the area and to photograph the monument. It seems locals still have their own theories about what really happened there on this date fifty-nine years ago today.

Hypnagogic
Denise Stoner was 2½ years old the first time she remembers the alien taking her. She was at home in Hartford with her grandfather. Her mother was at the hospital giving birth to her younger sister. She remembers staring out a large picture window and seeing an egg-shaped object in the sky, hovering over some power lines. “What’s Humpty Dumpty doing up in the sky?” she asked. She remembers the fear in her grandfather’s face when he suggested it was time for bed.
Later that night, as she lay staring at her nursery rhyme-themed wallpaper, an entity walked through her wall.

The Ilkley Moor Incident
On the morning of December 1, 1987, retired policeman Philip Spencer was walking across the moor heading for his father-in-law’s home. He’d taken his camera in the hope of catching some images of the early morning light. In fact the photographs he took that day would end up in the world’s press.
Using a compass to navigate through the fog, Spencer said he came across a strange looking being. Hurriedly taking a picture of the creature when it ran away, he decided to follow it and claimed to have caught a glimpse of a craft with a domed top rising up from the moor and disappearing into the sky.

Alien Agenda
There has been no public meeting, no involvement of leadership, no press coverage. There has, as yet, been no assistance, no cooperation, no war, no death, and no apocalypse. The contact has been on the aliens' terms -- and in secret.
I never imagined such a scenario in 1966 when I first started to study the UFO phenomenon. Nor did I imagine that I would spend so many years of my adult life involved with the subject. I never imagined that I would have to tell my children not to talk about my research at their school because they could be unmercifully teased. I never dreamed that my wife would learn not to mention my interests at her workplace because her employer might think she was married to a madman, and that could hurt her career. When I talk about the subject to my colleagues in the academic community, I know they think that my intellectual abilities are seriously impaired. I find myself intertwined with a subject that I have learned to dislike and even to fear.

Leonard Nimoy's voice and that spooky music were made for each other. This show was one of the formative ones for me. Lots of great nightmare fuel, presented in a serious fashion where a young mind like mine was being told "Son, this awful stuff is real [and probably under your bed]."

Detectives Perplexed By Mysterious Oregon Cattle Mutilations
The udders appeared to have been removed with precision — straight, even cuts, as if made by a sharp object.
The reproductive systems had been cut out cleanly as well, and without disturbing other organs.
There was no indication of predator activity and perhaps strangest of all, scavenging animals appeared to have hardly touched these six cow carcasses found in a seven-day span this year on ranchland in rural Crook County.
