Random Blog Note

For anyone looking at older entries and realizing that the photos won't open in the usual lightbox manner, I am aware of the problem (and annoyed by it [as there is no apparent fix other than reloading all the images individually into each old blog post]).

So if you find yourself in old blog posts, you have to right click on each photo in the post and select Open in New Tab....

Very lame.

Blizzard

Looks like some heavy snow is headed our way for the weekend.
Hopefully they downgrade it, but it sounds like a Krampus storm is coming.

Dearest FX Crate

No way to contact you, but if you're reading this, or if someone else can contact them, can you kindly use an image of one of your products for your website and Facebook page?  Makes more sense to show something you've made.  As opposed to something I've made.

Thanks,
Rot

PS (Update)  The image has been changed.

Interwebs

Anyone else getting weird pop ups or malware warnings while coming to this blog?  I've gotten a couple emails about it.

Not sure how to correct this problem.
Suggestions welcome.

B4C: Update

So after two weeks of acting like those monkey things from 2001: A Space Odyssey when they saw the monolith (me = monkey things: my computer = monolith), I figured I'd turn it on last night to see what happened...and it worked (the only odd thing was the time/date was now showing 2011).
So I should have a new comic next Friday.  Unless the monolith was just faking me out.

B4C

A computer issue prevented me from working on a new Begging for Candy.
Sorry about that.

The Great Blue Heron

So I'm sitting on the couch this morning, computer to my left, big ol' Miss Mabel the cat on my lap, and I notice she's looking at something outside.  I turn to look at the window closest our driveway, and there's a giant whooping crane/pterodactyl sitting on the Honda's roof.  It spreads its massive wings and floats off.  I say "HOLY CRAP, MABEL! YOU SEE THAT?!" and she's looking back at me silently saying "YOU SEE THAT THING!" and we both turn to look out the window again.  She jumps down and starts nervously licking.

Then I wonder why something so huge was so close to the house.  And then I think about our fish pond (came with the house and was stocked when we bought the house four years ago).  I run outside and not one of our 15-20 fish is out there.  The pond is empty.

I had no idea this sort of thing could happen.

About this size.

Product Review

We bought one of these thinking it'd be a fun weird Halloween decoration that would look a lot like the green liquid from John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness.  And it kinda does look like that, until the sensor shuts the lantern off.  There's no option to keep the light on continuously.  So you either pay someone to continually tap it (or force your mother to do it), or you take it back to the store, or you throw a fit like Jesus in the Temple (which was my option [before taking it back]).

Wish I read some online reviews.  Seems everyone hates these things for the same reason.

Time Off

Going to take a week off from blogging.
Trying to spend all my free time working on props for this year's display.

$400 Nightmare

A followup to the previous blog entry about Robert Englund's final appearance as Freddy Krueger...

To my horror, and I'm sure to the horror of the folks who paid $400 a ticket to get a photo with him, Englund was not in the trademark hat and red and green striped sweater.  He was in a Flashback weekend shirt.  And the background looks like the same backdrop from my horrid grade school photos.

A fan wishing he hadn't stolen that $400 from his mom.

Man, this is going to bother me for a while.

Meet Some Ghost Hunters

Jason and Samantha Hawes of Ghost Hunters will be at our Yankee Candle Village Store in South Deerfield, MA this Saturday, August 2nd from 9am to 1pm! The $20 entry fee will include a meet and greet and photo opportunity, plus exclusive Ghost Hunters merchandise will be available to purchase. This is their only New England appearance for the rest of this year, so don’t miss out!

Twenty clams to enter the event to meet these two and to have the opportunity to purchase Ghost Hunters merchandise.  I'm starting to hate this company.  Though if they release a scent that smells like a toasty Jack O'Lantern, I'll forgive them.

Update: The Haunted Garden

Sad news from their Facebook page:
Well the judge's ruling is in! The Haunted Garden has been permanently shut down. We just want to take a minute to say thank you to all our supporters, fans, neighbors and patrons that made our 4 year run such an incredible experience. Please do stay tuned though as we are trying to figure out our next move. The future is bright though and we are looking forward to great things!

You Shall Not Purchase Snacks

So the vending machine located by the doors of the department in which I work is broken.  The dollar slurpy thing won't slurp dollars, so someone put a photo of Gandalf with the words "Bills Shall Not Pass" written on it.  In that work environment, I assure you this was rather funny.  The work curve in full effect.  As I type this now, I realize this is not funny at all.  Well, maybe a little.

Anyway, three people came up to me and informed me that they knew I was the one who had placed the paper wizard on the machine.  I protested stating that I didn't even care for Lord of the Rings.  To the last person I shouted "AND I HATE HARRY POTTER TOO!"

And those stupid Dementors.

Rue Morgue Magazine Sightings?

Has anyone found the October/Halloween issue of Rue Morgue?  Our bookstores only have September's issue.  If I go in there one more time and see that old issue, I'm going to be like Christ in the temple...pushing crap over.

Bloggage

Busier than usual this October, so I fear the blog is suffering as a result.
Just putting that out there to explain why entries might become spotty...or boring.
