Had no idea such things existed.... funny:

Dusk

So, as a guy who hates going to malls, I made a trip to a local mall where I knew they had a Yankee Candle Store.  Mind you, I'm not proud of this fact...  that I visited a mall for the sole reason of smelling a candle called Autumn Dusk.
I get in there and start sniffing around, and I can't find it.  I see their other new Autumn scents, and they're all soapy and perfumey.  But Autumn Dusk is nowhere.  So now I'm going to be forced to ask the store employee "Do  you have that new Fall scent?" [trying to butch it up.]  And she's like "We have a few new scents! Which one were you looking for?!"  And I lie "I think it's called something like Autumn Dusk."  And she says "No, that's not one of the new ones."  And I'm like "...nah...I'm pretty sure it's called Autumn Dusk."  And she SHOULD have been like "I thought you didn't know what it was called!"  but then she remembers, "That's our web exclusive scent!"  And I'm like "Web Exclusive?!  Who buys a candle without smelling it?!" [blowing my cover...and exposing my non-butchiness.]

So there you have it.  Save yourself a trip to the store. 

Autumn At Yankee Candle

Explore a dark, autumn forest of mysterious wood notes and smoky spice.

The scent of fresh peeled apple and the crispness of fallen leaves--it's definitely fall. We've added in a dash of lemon zest and a hint of pumpkin to capture an afternoon on a gorgeous autumn walk.

Meet Some Ghost Hunters

Jason and Samantha Hawes of Ghost Hunters will be at our Yankee Candle Village Store in South Deerfield, MA this Saturday, August 2nd from 9am to 1pm! The $20 entry fee will include a meet and greet and photo opportunity, plus exclusive Ghost Hunters merchandise will be available to purchase. This is their only New England appearance for the rest of this year, so don’t miss out! 

Twenty clams to enter the event to meet these two and to have the opportunity to purchase Ghost Hunters merchandise.  I'm starting to hate this company.  Though if they release a scent that smells like a toasty Jack O'Lantern, I'll forgive them.

This Saturday, the annual [disappointing] event at all Yankee Candle stores - the Halloween 2014 Preview Party. 

Hopefully they have some cool Halloween scents besides the usual Candy Corn and Witches' Brew.

A bad omen of things to come for the Halloween season?

New Man Candles

This one sounds like it might have some Halloween potential.

Camouflage:
A natural, woodsy blend of fresh air, golden leaves and oak tree bark. 

Candle Shoppe

A few photos from a Candle Store at Peddler's Village.
Was surprised to see the "Happy Halloween" (licorice) scent still being sold.  Probably left over from last year.  The "Sleepy Hollow" scent was pretty cool...woodsy and incensy.

Yankee Candle Halloween "Party"

Looks like tomorrow is the day Yankee Candle stores throw their annual Halloween party to promote their seasonal items.  If you recall last year, the store I picked threw a party similar to visiting a stodgy old lady's house and getting served sliced cinnamon apple - from a can.

If you go, hope your store has a better idea of Halloween than the one we visited.

Pumpkin Wreath:

Campfire Treat

The joys of camp . . . mesmerized by the fire, singing and laughing, while toasting marshmallows to rich, gooey perfection! 

A potentially Halloween-ish scent from Yankee.  Though as an inmate of a summer day camp for a few weeks when I was young, I find the phrase "joys of camp" appalling. 

They should add an earthy hay/grass scent to it and rename it Halloween Hayride for the upcoming Fall season.

Party

So we checked out the Halloween Preview Party at a Yankee Candle store and it was pretty lame. The three employees were dressed in costumes - baseball jerseys. There was a tray of food - chopped-up bagels. There was a raffle door prize giveaway - 20 % off your purchase.

We left before the drawing occurred. With the candles below:


As we drove home, the door prize really got under my skin. So you can only get the prize if you purchase something from the store? What kind of free gift is that? Heck, I was thinking there'd be a few Halloween votives or a pack of tealights as a prize. And I was also thinking the Halloween items would be on sale. I guess my expectations were unrealistic. I was hoping for some Halloween music, maybe some witch hats on the employees, and maybe some cinnamon cake and cider. A string of lights wouldn't hurt either.

Seriously, what kind of door prize WAS that?
The sign said "Giveaways every hour!"
The sign didn't say "Purchase required!"
