Great work as always. Whats the secret to the color that you get? Is that stain or paint. I love the way you lit this piece as well. Keep up the great work.

I mix a lot of shades of brown together to get the right feel - burnt umber, fawn, camel... the pumpkin is a great color - terra cotta. The last step is a wet wash of paint diluted with water. It fills in the cracks with darker or lighter colors - the body was washed with diluted black. The head with a color called glazed carrot. It's a technique I picked up from Bean and it's really changed the way my props turn out.

Awesome! Great job on layering the paint colors. It's amazing what can be done with a little dry-brushing and washing.
