The Realm Of The Unreal

There was at Auburn an old, abandoned cemetery. It was nearly in the heart of the town, yet by night it was as gruesome a place as the most dismal of human moods could crave. The railings about the plots were prostrate, decayed, or altogether gone. Many of the graves were sunken, from others grew sturdy pines, whose roots had committed unspeakable sin.

This reminded me of the Twilight Zone episode where, after a nasty storm, a bitter old widow begins receiving anonymous phonecalls from a faint voice saying "Where are you? I want to talk to you." In the final minutes of the episode, she's taken to visit her husband's grave. She finds that the storm had knocked over a phone line tower overlooking the cemetery, and the wire is resting on his grave.

I watched this one night in the third grade. Didn't get to sleep for a while.

I was looking for scary shots and this one takes the cake. Just another example of how the earth reclaims when we humans let it. Just a fascination of mine. I'd love to see more pics of this cemetery.
