Pumpkin Patch Update

Hopefully the cooler weather we're having will give these vines a chance to grow some fruit.

A gourd vine growing up through the Scarecrow.

The only pumpkin at the moment.
The first gourd (not sure when to harvest it).

I've got some bird house and bushel gourds growing... I've been told to wait till the stem turns brown to cut them, that way you know they aren't growing anymore.

Cool.
I'll do that.

Looking great, man. Our little vegetable garden is *just* starting to produce. We went with mostly boring stuff, but I do have a half row of corn that's looking really cool. The stalks are about 4' high and dark green. I hope they last long enough for me to cut them and use them on Halloween. Eating them is the last thing on my mind.

Kudos! Those vines have alot of growth left in them! I LOVE the Black Eyed Susans in with them!

Looking good Rot. Our patch is doing pretty well this year as well. A good mix of rain and heat helps. I also tried planting corn one year and was having great success until the raccoons raided them one night leaving nothing but busted stalks and empty ears. Did not mind them eating the corn...but I wanted the stalks!

Jon...have you had any problems with squirrels eating your corn? We had planted a mini corn patch and the squirrels got to every last stalk :( We'll keep trying though!!

Love the pics of the pumpkin patch Rot. We have some vines growing...no luck yet with pumpkins. Keeping our fingers crossed!
