Jars

I LOVE the idea of hanging glass jars with tealights from tree branches. Real flames, in any form, have always been so connected to Halloween for me. Hanging my metal lanterns in the tree, and the small jack o'lanterns last year, adds to the mystery somehow. People always seem to lean in to check to see if it's a real flame, and then seem surprised and happy when it is (I was always one of those people).

Ooh,I like that idea. And that little dismayed ghost is adorable. "Nooo don't open this door, the hinge creaks and--oh forget it *sad face*"

Couldn't agree more on the flame thing. This year I'm using an idea that I think came from Martha Stewart: coffee can jack-o-lanterns.

Great post.

Check it out. When I was a little kid, my father said "look out the window." Out in the yard was a rusted coffee can with a jack o'lantern-style face carved into it. We all got such a kick out of it and thought it was the most original thing we had ever seen. He should have patented it ; )

I too, love the hanging jars. I'd like to integrate them into our own haunt, this year.

I also LOVE real flame, but my husband INSISTS that we use artificial candles, for safety reasons!
