Hey Rot? Do you have a special recipe for your mache? Do you use shop towels? Elmers or carpet glue? Do you use any kind of mache clay? How did you get the shinyness?
I started messing with that last night and I finally have something that actually works like clay.

I'm an elmer's glue and water guy. And smooth paper towels. I've never used clay for my props.
The wet look is from a water-based acrylic satin finish from a craft store - it looks wet up close too. : )

Wow, the details are really great. Takes tons of talent to get details with mache, I'm assuming. :)
I think working with mache is something that takes a lot of patience, and a TON of practice. My style changes every single year as I get more and more comfortable with it.

I was just on your Etsy page admiring your work again. How did you get the paper towels to look so stringy? Again, incredible craftsmanship.
I made thick noodles out of the mache strips and mashed em down into the regular mache to get the strand look.
I have watched your work evolve year after year now.. and its like a fine wine, better with age however, I always dig your early pieces..

DAMN IT, I WANT ALL THREE!!!... those are outstanding man.
VERY nicely done. The little details really make the props sometimes. And in this case those shiny little "wet" details give it a very vile and icky appearance.
Are these going in the shop or into this year's display? If the latter, I can't wait to see how it all comes together. :)

You have a lot more patience than I do. For some reason I can sit and link rings to make chainmail, but other slow projects drive me batty, like mache, and my droid. I have to keep my eye on the goal, sometimes. :)
