Vox And The UFO

Absolutely loved this week's Paranormal Witness.
The Trumbull UFO case was amazing. Really sad to see how topics of this nature are handled by those in roles of public safety. The 911 dispatcher and police officer admit to calling each other with a cell phone so no recording of their initial communications could be made. The layers and layers of discomfort and preconceptions of even discussing the possibility of something unidentified was so interesting to watch as it unfolded and was witnessed by so many people. It says a lot of how these incidents are handled, and how they've been handled in the past.

The ghost segment was creepy as all get out.

I LOVE this series.

Paranormal Witness is awesome! I love how the story is always from the viewpoint of the witness, so the UFO case is completely inexplicable and not an occasion for pseudo-scientific analysis. Too bad the finale is next week.

SAY WHAT?
dang..i didn't know it was such a short season.

Thank you so much Rot for posting up the episodes. I find myself skipping through the stories just to get to the ghost ones.. ;) That "Vox" one is yet more proof as to why those damned boards will never be welcome in my home. You never know who you are talking to and inviting in.... I wonder if those people knew that Vox is latin for "voice"?

We had one of those boards in my parents' house.
I think they still have it. I should bring that over my brother's house and leave it in a not-so-obvious place.

I swear, the more I see stories like this and see people who SEEM to be telling the truth, I think that hauntings are physics-based... it has something to do with perception and reality...like the theory of biocentrism...life creating reality.

Fun and creepy stuff. I wonder if any perception/reality theorists have linked the theory to the paranormal.

I live in Chesapeake, Virginia. That is about 20 miles from Virginia Beach, which is the location of the Vox story.
How's that for topical?

Pretty topical. : )

It sure is creepy and creepy is fun! I think you're onto something with the perception and reality explanation. I think our brains are much stranger than we realize and I think it must mean something that people tell these stories over and over. It may not be that there are ghosts and monsters, but that our brains can too easily slip into some sort of mode wherein we experience ghosts and monsters. The problem then becomes defining the meaning of reality.

An old article discussing reality and perception:

I'm sorry but all the paranormal stuff is just so much BS. I'm glad it's entertaining to those of you who like it, but I can't believe any of you actually take it seriously.

Don't be so close-minded and ignorant.

Life's a lot more enjoyable when you consider the possibilities.

A lot more interesting too.

I'm really in no position to tell those folks from the first episode of Paranormal Witness that they were all lying about seeing a ghostly figure at the exact location of their deceased daughter's car wreck...which led to the safe return of her son.

Way WAY more satisfying thinking those people were spilling their guts telling us the truth about something absolutely fantastic, and otherworldly.

There's a lot of interesting, fun, and fascinating stuff in the paranormal world, but very little of it actually has much to do with whether you believe in it or not.

About the paranormal being BS...
I studied physics in college. I read scientific articles. I "know" how the world works, but is it really that useful? Once upon a time people believed that diseases were caused by tiny monsters they could not see. Turns out they were right. Whether you call it bacteria or virus or demon, ultimately the world operates on levels we never see, and yet it keeps going. Quarks or faeries, makes no difference really. People still wear "lucky socks" and still refuse to talk about some subjects because if you talk about them they will happen. I'm for the supernatural if for no other reason than it makes me happy (and I have other reasons).

Oh sh*t--we own a Ouija board.
Which we bought in Salem.
[gulp]

Interesting side note: Last year, with this board, we accurately predicted the birth of my brother in law's child. His wife was supposed to have the baby sometime in early Nov., but the Ouija board said the baby would come within 12 hours. And 10 hours later, on Oct. 31 no less, our new baby niece arrived! I know this sounds unbelievable, but it's the honest truth. Nothing paranormal has happened in our apartment since we got the board, though.

: D

Give it a year...Vox takes his sweet time showing up after board activity.

I have to say, when the Hubby and I first saw the previews for this show...we weren't sure that we were going to like it. We LOVE it!!! I find it very interesting and while I don't know that I believe every word of every story...it's entertaining to say the least.

The people telling the stories seem to be telling the truth...but I also agree that it's all about perception.

Sightings have happened in other cities very similar to this encounter. The most famous being St. Clair County, Illinois and, of course, the Phoenix Lights. There is something going on. I, for one, hope to see it revealed fully before I die.
