The StickMan

I built this guy after the movie props shipped.
Just wanted to do something dark and organic, with a stick nose and a weird hollow head.

Rot,the more organic you go the more I'm in love with your work. I'm starting to see "Rot Visions" in my oak trees!!
(uh oh)
Awesome and inspirational!!

Hey, thanks : )

...did you leave it in the woods for some unsuspecting hiker to find? :)
Really cool!

Rot said...

Nah..but that might be his ultimate fate.

: )

Rot,
You always manage to find the perfect settings for your props too. That huge tree in the background, the path trough the woods. He looks like he belongs there . . .

Thanks. We try really hard to find perfect spots. We hunted a long time for that location.

This is absolutely incredible.

The broken stick fingers protruding from rotting gloves, the strange twisted cavity of a ribcage, the sticks and strings and strands, the location and photography...

You've beaten yourself again. I am in awe.

I think is ultimate fate should involve a trip to lancaster....

I'll drop him off when I see a cornstalk/skull totem ; )

Thanks, everyone.

I was tempted to give him a corpse head or a pumpkin of some kind, but I wanted to experiment with an unusual face.

Yeah, the broken stick fingers and the gloves are a really cool feature. Well, the entire creature is so imaginative. You are the master!

Love the fingernails. Guess its finger tips actually but the farther back shots they look like fingernails and really stand out. Awesome job.

Love it!
Did you add color to your paste or is the paint all post construction?

Rot said...

I color my mache/paste with black paint, but I then go over the scarecrow with acrylics. So that's just to make sure he's easier to paint...if I miss a spot, it's black rather than bright white.

Marrow said...

I do the exact same thing...
:D

So is The Stickman this year's scarecrow?

You continue to raise the bar with your creations Rot.

Incredible! The fingers are amAzing!!!

Rot said...

Thanks : )

Marrow,
Not sure if he's this year's scarecrow. I just had a bug to make something stickish.

This is brilliant. When you say movie props shipped, do you make movie props?? Stunning work Rot.I live on 300 acres of corn and you have inspired me to start building scarecrows.

Sorry, Rania, I was referencing a project I had worked on during the month of May. Here's the entry:

300 acres?
Lordy.
