Seasonal Beer

The first bottles of the Autumn beers I'll be tasting this season.  Pleased with both of them, though I can't say either one is loaded with any flavors that scream "IT'S AUTUMN!"

The quest continues.

Leinenkugel makes a great summer shandy.

If you want to taste autumn, you gotta go with a higher alcohol brew. Have you tried Weyerbacher?

I'll keep an eye out for that at Wegman's. I can't recall if I had it. I tried a whole bunch last year with the intent of taking notes.

And naturally I did nothing.

Always found the Lienie's Oktoberfest pretty watered down...I much prefer the Sam Adams Oktoberfest.
Keep us posted...I'm always looking myself

Will do.
I'm a big fan of Sam Adams. Most of their seasonal stuff is great.

blue moon pumpkin isn't terrible, I prefer the SA Harvest Pumpkin. Fuller taste, better flavor IMO.

We had an Octoberfest blind tasting as well :)

Check out Stoudts or Lancaster Octoberfest's.

Leinenkugels did not rate well.

Southern tier's "pumking" it tastes like October.... If you can get your rotten hands on Elysian's "Dark o' The Moon" it tastes like the harvest moon.... Might want to wait a month...they are best imbibed on cold nights ;)

I found this in one of your past posts from July of 2008! Not sure where you got it, but that is an awesome pic. You had to have tried Weyerbacher after seeing that.

Always pour those pumpkin brews into a glass. Opens up the favors and aromas!

I can't find any pumpkin ales here in TX yet. Or perhaps I didn't look very hard. So I put together a six pack of individual Oktoberfest bottles to try. I have a bottle of Leinenkugel but haven't tried it yet.

I would LOVE to be able to get Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale here, but apparently it's not available in this market.

I just picked up a Sam Adams Harvest Sampler. It's about the only thing out right now. Still holding out for my Buffalo Bill's pumpkin ale tho!

I didn't know they had that out this year. Just looked it up and now I have to have it.

Thanks!

Have you tried Elysium? It has an owl on the bottle. Very pumkin spice heavy but really delicious.

I'll keep an eye out for that too.

thanks!
