Location Location Location

Has anyone else started scouting out locations for The Great Pumpkin Project:  2016?
We've been looking for a good spot...  nothing solid yet.

Now that you mention it, I'm going to have to start looking.
We do have a nice covered bridge by Park City (a shopping mall)

Maybe I'll sit one out on the highway.

So Rot. Thats a subject I'd like to discuss with you. But, yes Ive been scouting. Finding 31 new places for them is gonna be a challenge. Im pretty sure I am going to repeat at least 2 as a tradition. Gonna be a challenging year for sure.

Shoot me an email : )

31... I'd never be able to do it...I'd stress myself out.

Yes, all year long. I'm always looking, planning, thinking. It's the actual doing the deed that gets shuffled to the end of the to-do list.

I'm looking for a place closer to my house so I can check on it. I'm thinking of making a mache tree stum to elevate it off the ground if a natural setting like a pond.

There is a house on the side of the road I pass every day, scoping for signs of life. In front of the alleged abandoned house stands a tree that wanted to be an Axel Erlandson tree, with a perfect perch for a jackolantern to grin at all the working slobs on their commute home. We'll see.

I may not have 31 locations, but I have found one in particular that should prove very fitting!

I had never heard of the Great Pumpkin Project until now. Oh, so many ideas of where I could place jack-o-lanterns throughout October! As if I needed one more project to add to my Halloween list - but this will be so much fun! So glad I saw this today.

I'll never be able to do 31. I'm shooting for every week and have some good ones picked out.

Rot...your spot WAS SO perfect & SO inspirational. i mean, like a drive thru window for Halloween!!!. Perfect. couldn't be easily messed with & it was still highly visible too. i got so crazy with this silly idea of leaving the jacks as like gifts to the dead. didn't fly so well. i shoulda just went with the flow. & i think Adam had a hard time copying & pasting the pics i emailed him. i should send this year's pics to you.

I'd be happy to post em : )

Need to get involved this year. Love the whole idea. As others, no way I could swing the massive burden of 31, but I would love to find a spot fitting as a reminder to all of what season it is. Thanks Rot, any guidelines? did you use a real candle or flicker tea light in yours?

Rot said...

we used a large jar candle so it would be highly visible and last a long time... a couple of nights.
Though there was intense fear that there'd be some crazy fire started as a result. So I get the fear most people have using real flame. That's all I'd need would be some kind of lawsuit, or a horrible situation like someone getting hurt as a result of a harmless Halloween-loving act.

Though in all my years of leaving jackos out overnight with their candles burning, I've never found any which had burst into flames or had their lids catch fire and tumble to the ground and cause a fire.

girl6- Im pretty sure the pics are on the site. I'll go check. If not I totally apologize. I definitely wouldn't intentionally leave your stuff out. I'll check when I get home. Also, are you referring to the desk pics as well? I know I sent those in the email

Adam..No worries man. i only mentioned sending the pics to Rot first, so he could forward them on to you in a way that would be easier for you to open & upload if you wanted to. i know you had trouble last year with the pics i sent & i did have them set to public viewing at the time for you to grab. it's not an issue tho, cause they belong to the GPP, so i don't mind either way. just trying to make things easier for ya, especially since i'm not computer savvy, like honestly, my computer skills are VERY limited. plus, i'm sure you were way beat at the end of the project & started to fade out. no problem.

Was just thinking about this the other day - how much I miss carving pumpkins! Hopefully I will have time to at least leave a few pumpkins about for the great pumpkin project this coming year. :)

All of the cool places around here are too far for me to check on regularly. :( there's one or two ideas I have right now though. Looking forward to it....

Im looking to come up with a more interactive way to do the GPP this year. Hopefully this can inspire everyone to participate and spread the spirit of the holiday even further this year.

I need to find those wooden tags and the stamp. They looked spectacular attached to the jacks!
