As if some kid five years from now (hell, five months from now) will give a crap about Guardians of the Galaxy.

,ok...that was my "who's star lord" attempt. : D

SO MUCH truth in that post. one word sums it all up...disloyal.
it's everywhere. look at how people are treated when they begin to noticeably age, which by the way is just a normal part of life, but man, people treat it like it's a disease, when actually it's an honour & privilege to do so. it's not owed to anyone, so have some respect haters. & no one's immune to it either, people tear down their favourite celebrities at the drop of a hat, because their body is going thru normal changes. you see it on the street too, "get outta the way you old so & so". sad.

yeah, wayyyyyy tooooo many superhero movies. & i LOVE superheros but....come on there's so much more to life & film out there. 2 of the best superhero movies that come to my mind are Chronicle & Unbreakable & they're probably both not really thought of as superhero movies because............there's probably just too much "everyday" in both films. real people with real problems. so yeah, that's boring for the masses. NOT flashy enough. gotta have spandex & bs.

doesn't this always happen tho??? like back in the 50's, weren't people bombarded with like gladiator movies? then later disaster movies? animals taking revenge movies? blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhh. idk...it really is just about the $$$. now it's superhero films etc.

sometimes i think the WHOLE problem was summed up best, when matt wagner said, something like, "society loves mediocrity" he's a comic book dude (not mainstream tho) & he even gets it. makes my eyes roll up, when i hear people saying, "how much they LOVE avatar or the titanic. HAhahha...yeah, i will always beat that horse lonnnng after it's dead, but, someone's gotta.

look at Halloween decorating & or Haunting. so much beauty & effort goes into it & sometimes i think all the creator sees is...Oh i did the same theme again or...Oh wasn't good enough. there's nothing wrong with tradition, it's Beautiful!! now mind you, if someone just wants to honesty keep it new all the times, that's Beautiful too!!! i'm just saying, people shouldn't feel like they HAVE to, that's all. either way, just do YOUR thing & do it with love. eff those critics. i would be SOOOOOOOOOOOO disappointed if some of my favourite local Halloween decorators threw their traditions to the wind, especially if they felt pressured to do so. just be true to yourself.
.
when you dig something, you gotta support it. because when you support something, yes, it may make take a while, but, it will male a difference, BUT ONLY if you keep plugging away & keep being annoying about it. Gandhi was right, "be that change, the one you wanna see"

Wow! I am astonished! TOT is such a detailed and well thought out ride too. If this is true, people that haven't a experienced the detailing of this hotel and the special effects need to go.

yeah. kinda hoping it's not true.

I've been holding off commenting. Let's be 100% honest. Wanna talk about cash grabbers? John Carpenter ain't got nothing on Disney. It's alllll about the money. Disney has made huge mistakes with their resorts, multiple times, all in the name of more money. No surprise there. Also, it's not shocking in the least to think they'd get rid of TOT. It won't be the first or the last time they've gotten rid of an awesome ride in the name of more $$$. However, I could see them first testing the idea using a seasonal or temporary layover on the ride. Like Haunted Mansion turning into Haunted Mansion Holiday at Christmas time. *Shrug.*
I love me some Disney but if you love them you also have to be fully aware that they are greedy bastards. Then there's no hard feelings. Lol.

I just fail to understand why a company like Disney, with more money than God, can't build new rides in a new park? They've already got several parks at WDW as it is...why not add a Superhero themed one for Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc? Why do classics have to be brushed aside for the new?? Seems to me that there is room for both to exist

I think Universal Studios in Orlando does super hero stuff though right? The rumor seems kinda far-fetched. I know Disney owns Marvel so I'm sure at some point we'll be seeing super hero themed lands. Star Wars Land is already happening at DLand CA.....

Thanks for sharing my post, Rot! I too really hope that at the end of the day this is just one big rumor and these so-called plans fail to go through. It would truly be a shame to lose TOT, but that being said, this is Disney, and I know 'em well. Obviously they commercialize the crap out of any new thing of theirs at a time, but they never used to fully replace iconic attractions for them. Not like this anyway. I suppose they just feel it's time for a Disney face-lift since they now own Marvel? I don't know exactly. As for super hero movies in general, it's just getting to be too much. I agree with you, Girl6, some can be great like Unbreakable! But now there are just so many of them, much like film trends of the past that you mentioned, all of which are results of something going on in our society/culture, in this case it's a post-911 culture in need of a "hero." Surely, though, we can move on from that and make some better art!
