Purple Or Orange

I thought this was GREAT.
Apparently there are LED light strings that can alternate between orange and purple...  this Haunter has posted a ton of pics and I have two below.

Kind of prefer the orange overall. Last year we did a mixture of orange and purple faceted semi-transparent LED C9 bulbs for the haunt and they were fine but a little "harsh". So we decided to splurge this year and went with a custom "candy corn" pattern stringer of the smooth opaque LED C9 bulbs in orange, yellow, and warm white (just bought a box of each color bulb) and they have that glow of old-fashioned opaque C9 incandescent bulbs. Mrs. Hauntedeve will most likely take photos of this year's haunt with and without the C9 stringer lighted. With the shape and layout of this house compared to our old one it's easier to softly light the walkway and overall haunt for trick-or-treaters with the C9 gutter stringers and just use a couple small 50 watt PAR20 colored landscaping floods to uplight some of the standing props. Our old house and neighborhood lent itself more to a spooky haunt being a cape cod style house and having tons of tall old maple trees lining the street. And the front yard was more compact to light with regular colored flood lights. We do the best we can with what we've got to work with now. At least we get double the number of trick-or-treaters here.

I’d go with purple lights, with the orange lit jackos.

LED tech hasn't quite reached the purple I like yet. They mostly appear pink Recently, I saw a much bluer purple, unfortunately, it's a bit too blue. The history behind LEDs and the available colors is quite an interesting one. I don't even mean to sound pretentious; the trial and error in addition to what specific role the certain colors are initially required for could easily wipe out your plans for an entire evening.

I like the purple best.

They are both really cool...but I have to go w/the purple in contrast to the orange jackos. It also evokes a spookier Halloween feel. The orange is maybe a little too warm for the high holiday.

I’m an orange fan at heart, though I do mix in purple. My orange lights broke in a wind storm last year right before Halloween and I lost half a string, so I was thinking of replacing with LEDs this year. I saw the multi- colored ones but wasnt sure if they’d be too harsh, as people have said. I like the good old twinkly look.

Target sold them probably 4 years ago, made by Phillips. You can have them on either color solid, either color fade in and out, or fade from one color into the other and back.

P.s. Did Primitives by Kathy discontinue your designs??

We assumed Primitives by Kathy discontinued our line, but after a discussion with them we learned that she lost a primary factory of anything that makes resin/mache items. Same happened to my bud Johanna Parker's stuff at PBK...gone.

Last I heard Kathy was still trying to find a new manufacturer, but so far we've heard nothing, so our fear is that our PBK line has bit the dust.

I got some of these at Home Depot last weekend. I like them. There is a mode where they switch automatically, but they flash too fast. I am leaving them on orange, because it fits my setup better, but I like the idea of switching the whole porch between purple and orange someday.

Lowes sells them too. Solid orange, solid purple (bluish, not pink), and alternating. They're LEDs.
