Now Playing: Secular Haze

I've come across images of the group GHOST many times in my searches for blog material, but I never listened to any of their music.  Not sure why I was kinda sorta avoiding them.  But I finally gave a few of their songs a listen.

It's definitely not the stuff I'd normally play, but it's not at all what I was expecting.  I think I thought it would be heavier and more in the realm of metal.  It's really interesting and has an almost Goblin-esque vibe.  A throwback to something unfamiliar.  And there's a great theatricality to it that I love.

Anyways, if any fans of Ghost are reading this, what songs do you recommend?

Click below for Secular Haze (goes great with our CHURCH theme):

I think I mentioned Ghost to you onetime, just for their looks.
Their sound definitely doesn’t match what they look like, but the sound is pretty cool. And the story they got going is neat.

The song and video “He Is” is cool, also “Square Hammer”.

i recall you mentioning them...sorry i never gave it a go.
Totally agree that the look doesn't go with the sound, but it works... Love how the lead singer has played different characters under a mask. So strange.

But in a good way.

I think when I mentioned them was the time I first found out CHURCH.

It was to give you some more motivation due his Papa Emetrius look.

Ritual, Square Hammer, Year Zero, Secular Haze, If You Have Ghosts, Ghuleh/Zombie Queen, From The Pinnacle to the Pit, Absolution. I absolutely love the entire presentation of this band...

Circe is probably their best and most popular song.

I haven't loved a band this much since Duran Duran in the early 80s! LOL Seriously though, I'm 46 and discovered them about 3 or 4 years ago and have seen them 5 times in concert already. After the first concert, went out and bought every CD, listened to every interview I could and have been addicted ever since. Perfect package musically and artistically.

haha...that's great.

yeah, they actually have a modern 80s sound.
And i find that i keep looking for more videos of them.
they're something of a mystery, and i realize that's the point.

I was actually bothered he did an interview unmasked.

I think the ending of the video to RATS is one of the coolest things i've ever seen.

I love that they also have a sense of humor. They put out these little story chapters that kind of keep you on your toes as to what is going on. Full of clues and subtle hints. This is the newest one they put out a few weeks back. https://youtu.be/oVyMUtwvexs I love the way this guy thinks. I was disappointed as well about the unmasking but with their new popularity I can see how it would be hard to continue.
