Spirit Halloween 2012

We visited a Spirit Halloween shop on its first day open. Like being in a weird Halloween fun house. This wins the award for weirdest prop ever. Mini Reapers. We laughed when we saw them. Angry cat

Yeah, Spirit Halloween is a joke if you ask me. But it is fun to go in and walk around in the atmosphere. The one here usually doesn't open till very end of September.

Every year we make it a point to stop
at either the Butler or Cranberry Twp one. We usually get something small for each of the boys (11 and 14 now) to put in their rooms. That's about it though. I've gotta ask though...we always get asked a half dozen times if we need any help, assuming that happens to you as well, do you ever wanna just look at them and say "I'm Pumpkinrot" just to see the reaction?

I have done work on promo material design for a pretty prominent name in horror makeup and recall seeing him out and about on one occasion. We stopped, spoke for a few minutes catching up, hear somebody say his name in the distance, next thing you know this guy is in our face ranting...then on his knees in front of him. Surreal, bizarre, embarrassing...yeah, maybe best not to do what I suggested earlier.

i love being anonymous in the real world.
and to date, i've never overheard anyone even aware of the Halloween community...

I was wondering what the "Faceless Spectre" was going to look like in person. Or better yet, this one...

I put the chain on mine as literally a last minute thing, just because I had it laying around. You'll notice it's not on there in all the pictures of my version of the cloaked ghost. I wasn't really sure how much I liked it on mine, but they seem to love it. :)

Ya..stores are usually overpriced, but you have to go.

Rot check out The Dinosaur Dracula blog..he will be starting his annual Halloween countdown @ midnight.

Awesome, awesome site. He reviews random Halloween items, foods etc.

We need stores like this in Australia! Looks like a lot of fun!

On a side note...
Your cat looks a lot like a certain cat that randomly visits me.

I go to Peddler's Village every year to check out your scarecrow. Always wonder if you and Bean are there admiring everyone's reaction to it. Got some cool pics of the tin man. Hope you plan on entering this year because its a pretty long drive for us, and if you don't enter, I don't bother. Knew of Pumpkinrot as of about 5 years ago. Moved to PA in '09. Been going ever since. I can understand the anonymous thing, but sure would be cool to get a pic with Rot and his 'crow!

I won't be doing the scarecrow this year. I have a long list of props I have to get finished for the Haunt.

Sorry about that.

We checked ours out the same day! The one in Lancaster, PA opened Sept 1.

It was fun checking out all the stuff...but overpriced.

We went to Spirit on Sunday...I had to get the Zombie baby that has the scary clown face and he vibrates & giggles...I am going to modify him a bit tho. Also I got the car magnets (I love Halloween) and the "Halloween Ribbon"...gotta wash the car before they go on...Big purchase was a 12ft. hanging clown..of course we'll be modifying him as well to fit our yard haunt.

@Jay

I know right?! I was too. It's at the East Town Mall shopping mall, near Burlington & Harbor Freight.

I get it Rot, anymore Spirit and the likes are just another signal of the season for me. More for the kids than anything. Honestly the thing I look forward to is leaves falling, cooler air, pumpkin patches and a couple haunted attractions. Oh...and a certain yard haunt over in the eastern half of the state...some pumpkinhead lunatic.

The Spirit Halloween near us finally opened. Although..I'm not sure why. They had some costumes set up and some of their decorations but none of the larger props were out yet. It was still very much in set up mode. =P

At any rate...I picked up some moss and the zombie garden gnome. I've been waiting for him!! My Father in Law is always joking with me that I need a garden gnome for our garden. Finally got one...even if it's not exactly what he had in mind!!! =D
