Yankee Candle Halloween "Party"

Looks like tomorrow is the day Yankee Candle stores throw their annual Halloween party to promote their seasonal items.  If you recall last year, the store I picked threw a party similar to visiting a stodgy old lady's house and getting served sliced cinnamon apple - from a can.

If you go, hope your store has a better idea of Halloween than the one we visited.

And that bit about the sliced apple...happened to me as a kid..over my aunt's house.
"Is everyone ready for dessert?!!"
kids: YAYYYYYY!!!
[aunt starts a can opener on a can of weird sliced cinnamon apple]

Ha! You gotta love the dessert in a can.

That little jacko plug in looks neat. Might get brave and try to get one of them tomorrow. (If I can handle all of the people)

truth be told i go every year. This is the first year my fiancee is tagging along. It is definitely not my most masculine of tendencies. Ya know, hanging out in the mall at 9am with a bunch of middle aged women waiting for yankee candle to open. But right after I rush out and chop some wood, fix a classic car and go shoot some semi-automatic weapons to make me feel manly again. Not to mention I also sit down with a cold 6 pack and watch Expendables 1 and 2 on repeat all day haha. Well, not really. As out of place as I feel it's all in the name of the high holiday

I'm going to go check it out for my first time. If the guy at the store is to be believed, he said it's crazy but a lot of fun. I still don't think I'm going to be there to wait in line.

My Yankee candle premier party was really well done last year. All the employees dressed as witches and there were Ruby Tuesday cookies at the entrance. I wish I could get over there tomorrow, but... It's looking more like Sunday for me. :-/

Did anybody go today? Anything cool to report?

We ended up checking it out.
Nothing really exciting. No new Halloween scents...just candy corn and witches brew. And really high prices.

I couldn't bring myself to go.
I was by myself today and I was scared.

Boney bunch is very disappointing this year. However, I will be picking up some of the skeleton crew stuff. And I dig the top hat candle shade. It'll go nicely with the skull jar holder I got last year. Together, they have a neat little cutesy voodoo vibe. :) I like that. I agree with you Rot. Their candles are KAH-RAZAY expensive. The prices for the accessory stuffs though, I think they're reasonable.

I like the locomotive. It was a clever move on their part...they can add cars every year. I can't wait for a haunted caboose!

I doubt anybody is checking this particular post again but Home Goods has Yankee for über cheap. That's how I roll now....

I'm checking : )

We always wait to buy our halloween yankees at HomeGoods...they usually have ones we like...for a fraction of the cost.

We were up in the Catskills this past weekend so we decided to check out a Yankee Candle in Kingston. Man, you thought the one you went to last year was lame....this was worse. The one employee was wearing pink scrubs...I guess that passes as a costume?

All of the Halloween decor was in the back of the store with nothing in the front pointing this out. We did get two large jar candles (buy one get one 50% off) in our favorite scents (Autumn leaves and Apple pumpkin) And a couple of cute tea light holders...but didn't find any Boney Bunch stuff that I really liked.

I do believe that Yankee Candle needs some serious help when it comes to their preview parties...they could be SO cool!! *daydreams about what she'd do*

I went to the local store on the day of the "party" and it was ho-hum. The employees did dress up though, and they had tiny chicken sandwiches from Chick-fil-a and a drink. I thought it was cider and got uber-excited, but the guy was like, no, it's sweet tea. I oozed disappointment. Definitely having my spiced cider at the Halloween party this year.
