Black Phoenix Alchemy

Whenever I go to this site, I feel three things:
1.  I wish computer monitors came with a small scent-port so I could sample these things.
2.  I think this site is the online equivalent of going to a haunted mansion.
3.  I feel like if I order something I'm somehow an unknowing member of an online cult.

Something's just OFF about it.  And that's not a bad thing.  Just a vibe I get.  I trust my vibes.

Anyone ever order from these guys?

the ONLY Horror i have witnessed with joints similar to this, is they CAN'T seem to grasp the simple concept of PROPERLY wrapping an item, so it Survives it's kickoff with the USPS Soccer Team & arrives safely at your door.
Nevermore & ALL that jazz...

FYI.
Using someone else's smell-port would be gross.

Still curious about this one:

JACK
The scent of warm, glowing jack o'lanterns on a warm autumn night: true Halloween pumpkin, spiced with nutmeg, glowing peach and murky clove.

they do seem cultish. I feel like these guys would have dressed up mannequins in their basement in all different poses like Anton LeVey did, and they would use them as their smell testers for each scent

Yes, BPL fans are crazy about their products and people have massive collections they buy, sell, and trade. The scents are concentrated and intense. They have a brilliant business plan with offering limited edition scents that become highly sought after. The folks who run BPL are great about answering questions and seeing them in person at a convention is one way to test scents. Their samples are called imps and a good way to to give scents a try. I love them but have allergies and can't wear scented anything.

The scents are pretty amazing, they carry dozens of them at Dark Delicacies in Burbank, CA.

All for the personal smell-port. I like to smell the scent before I buy it, I'm a musky scent manly man.

Never tried using an oil before, but I heard they are worth the buy. Would love to hear from someone who has tried these.

I've ordered many samples from Black Phoenix for Halloween. They are a great company. Well packaged and very creative and inventive with their scents. Love them!

I am awaiting an order from them now. I ordered 3 full size vials (one of them being Jack, someone mentioned that here) and I think 6 of the samples. I can't wait to try them, and am hoping I will smell like Halloween!

For the love of God, somebody needs to make a burnt jacko latern lid scented candle!

I know someday Rot will find it..

I've ordered from them many times - their products are amazing. I still have a vile of oil called Burning Leaves that smells *exactly* like the sweetish scent of leaf smoke.

Yeah I've ordered. Good service. Incredibly expensive for very little product. Only ordered once though.

Ooh, I am a fan of BPAL! If you're curious the best thing to do is probably have a look on the fan forum (http://www.bpal.org/) where you can buy sample vials (imps) second-hand; this can be a less expensive way of trying a few scents. At least it is for me, since I live in the UK and international shipping is quite expensive for a small number of items. I don't think the perfumes themselves are that expensive as compared to commercial perfume; you don't need to use much since it's not diluted with alcohol.

Some of their scents are more traditional perfume-smelling, some are not (for example, one I've tried called Zombi smells of roses and 'graveyard' dirt. Creeps me out a bit, actually).

The thing I like most about the company - quite apart from what they sell - is that they've brought a lot of literature and poetry to my attention that I wouldn't otherwise have thought to read. And the artwork on their limited edition bottles can be really lovely.

Their Halloween limited edition scents should be released later this month. They don't sell samples of those but there are ways of acquiring samples through the forum. It can seem a little bit cult-ish but the cult part is optional!

BPAL are great. If you catch them at a con where they have a big setup, you could spend hours sniffing all their sample bottles. There are some REALLY great scents. BURIAL is one of my favorites.

As Chad mentioned, they did a burning leaves one but I'm pretty sure it's been discontinued. I have been searching for YEARS for a candle or an oil or something that smells like burnt pumpkin flesh, but so far no luck. I did find another AMAZING "burnt leaves" perfume that smells SPOT ON, if you're interested:

it's perfect. i just ran out so i'm about to order more.
