Reminder

I really don't like addressing this issue.  It feels petty.  But I also don't want to let it slide.  I've been seeing some folks reproducing my work with no mention whatsoever of the source material.

Tonight I found a guy re-wording stuff from my Haunt Theory blog entries, and even lifting my Skull Witch "Deathly and Deadly" text.

Come on, have some decorum.

Don't let those douche bags get you down, Rot. Every great artist has had to deal with hangers-on and imitators at least once in their Artistic careers.

I'm just surprised that he didn't think you wouldn't find out with sooo many who know your style. If he 's lifting text- well that's plagerism. I know you're classier than this but I hope you let him know you're on to him.

Hmmm...I spy some of my writing on there as well...uncredited.

Tsk tsk

I see it a lot on Tumblr. I add credit and source when there isn't one. I'm sure it sucks a bunch.

I shot the guy an email and he removed the content.

I'll bump this blog post down a few entries.

Don't know how I missed this post last night.....But yea, I have seen a few of your works on sites like Tumbler and Pintrest.

I couldn't even know how it would feel if it was my stuff (though I'm no where as good), but it just has to really suck. If I copy it, even with some change to it, I give credit to the original.

As others have mentioned, I see your work uncredited on Tumblr now and then. Fortunately, there's also a vocal contingency of folks on Tumblr who are adamant about crediting artwork, and I've seen your work duly credited several reposts later (and try to credit it myself whenever I come across one.)

yeah, i Don't think it will ever stop, it's like, (some) people don't know any better,
i have No idea what reality they live in.

anyway...you handled this like a True gentleman. & i'm so Glad that you contacted him to ask, what's up. i think it's Always important for people to speak up, ask questions, or even apologize, whatever the case may be.

petty, is a funny thing?
when does it apply?. i think of it like this, if your actions are pure, then you've got Nothing to worry about. but, as so often the case is, the actions are Not pure.

I have had my actual work stolen once. All of it. I had several monsters I built in storage and someone broke into the house they were in and took everything. Both things feel rather bad. I felt kind of homicidal about it. Your writing is very good, I still recall the story you did about the mushrooms growing in the basement short story. Good stuff.

that's terrible.
fortunately never had any theft.
i wouldn't recover from that.

Whenever I see this stuff I usually comment with something like

Um.....ROT perhaps?

Plagiarism sucks. Still wincing myself from getting called "jeffrot" a few times...yeah, no, don't do that, not even close.

They can imitate your work but I've never seen one that duplicates your work. As for the plagiarism, sometimes you step in that kind of stuff, just scrape it off your shoe and try to forget about it. Anyone following your work would instantly see it as plagiarism, and most would let the thief know they knew!
