Rest In Peace: George A. Romero

One of the few horror icons I actually met in person.  What a legacy he leaves behind.
The weird tag line of Dawn of the Dead was one of the earliest memories I have of something truly scaring me..."When there's no more room in HELL, the dead will walk the EARTH."  Some kids were talking about that in grade school when the film came out, and it really REALLY got under my skin.

Rest In Peace. It's that time again. They come in threes....famous deaths. A few days ago Stan Lee's wife, George Romero, and.....we wait.

Just a giant in his profession and such an incredibly kind and gracious individual. Was talking to Russ Streiner, who I've gotten to know a bit, at a local event and there behind him was Romero. I've rarely felt completely star struck, but I felt numb and frozen for a moment there. Very nice though, even laughed over me getting the raw materials :) for my haunt from "Barbara's cemetery".

"everybody's dead dave"...: (((((((((

a few weeks ago, we watched "silence of the lambs", just because, for some reason, i just wanted to watch George's cameo again. i LOVE watching his little scene. & i kept thinking, he's going to pass away soon. not because i necessarily knew, but, he was in his 70's & that seems like sucha popular age for people to pass. he died of lung cancer. i imagine all those cigarettes he musta smoked during those long, sleepless, worked filled nights, ALL that stress. i'm so sad over him passing on. for me, it feels like when Ray Bradbury passed away a few summers back. feels so lonely & empty out there.

a few yrs back, 4 of us went to a horror convention in Cali & we got to meet George there. OMG...sucha a sweet & funny man. he's a giant in person, so tall. my buddy & i asked him if we could try on his glasses & he was SO funny. he said, "you girls won't be able to see anything you know" & we were like, "we don't care!!!" & he let us try them on. we looked like fearless fly wearing those GIANT glasses of his. tiny little eyes inside huge squares. HAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!! He was SO mice to everyone there. the convention handlers were hawking him & making sure he kept to the signing limit of items per person & of course, George was sneaking items left & right, under the table from fans & signing them!!!! there was actually a moment of him being caught in the act & him trying to cover up. HAHAHAHAA. he was like a little kid, shrieking with laughter & doing saucy things. he was just SO lovable. Seriously, SO nice & GOOD to his fans. Mrs. Romero was a lucky woman. & he was a lucky man.

i like that clip of him, from that doc, where he's having dinner with Dario & he's excited & kinda nervous too, because, he really couldn't speak Italian. that's what IS SO wonderful about him, he was never too cool & never a sell out. he was a Lover of Life. & a Giver (even to crazy philly girls) i think Steven Spielberg could learn a few things from him.

& now...John Heard has passed on. : (
he'll always be Cutter to me...<333

& OMG...
Ted Levine, perfect performance.
one of the most unselfconscious performances ever.

Silence won the Big five. especially amazing for a horror film.
i guess they weren't brave enough to include Ted Levine, too risky i guess. cause he tore it up. omg.... amazing.
