Projected Reality

Projection art by Jon Hyers. Some really interesting effects in this video.

Click below for some samples:

I'd love to see projections of creepy props, and not just actors. Like a massive articulated ghost or a pumpkin-headed creature with a skinny body. I think this technology is perfect for puppetry. Almost like going back in time to how they used to do special effects in the 80s.

He does some great work. Saw his stuff in an attraction in The Dells (Wisconsin) quite impressive. I wanted something like that....husband said "no" even before I got a chance to ask :D

Cheers!

One of the scariest scenes in Poltergeist. I'd LOVE to see that in a yard haunt. *wonders if Frog Queen's hubby will come around on that one, too* :P

I'd love to experiment with this. It appears that all you need to do is video your subject from the same angle as you will be projecting it.

Additionally you will need to control the angle at which your audience will be viewing the video.

That projected puppetry idea is one I keep meaning to put in my haunt. I pictured a skeletal ghost projected onto a fog screen that rises up from a broken tombstone. He appears, looks around, and dissipates.

black scrim is really good for projecting flying ghosts on if your projector moves, as the scrim is nearly invisible, and it moves in the wind, giving that 'Night on Bald Mountain' feel from fantasia...
