John Carpenter's Darkchylde

My bud Randy shared some amazing news with me.

Master of Horror set to bring you the girl of your dreams. John Carpenter is onboard to direct Darkchylde, based on the comic by Randy Queen about a good hearted southern teen cursed to become the creatures from her many recurring nightmares. Every time Ariel Chylde transforms, she sheds her skin and a new nightmare emerges from her Id to act out her deepest, darkest impulses.

Congrats, Randy! Well-deserved and just the most insane of news.
And I apologize for thinking it was a joke when you first sent me the story!
But John-Freaking-Carpenter, man!

Congrats are in order. At least it will get a chance to be seen. I just hope Carpenter does more than phone it in. I've not been very pleased with much of anything he's produced in recent years.

I checked out the early real WETA did for this, when it was still just a proposal, and it looked amazing! I can't wait to see the film fully realized.

Like Costume Bot said, Carpenter's latter day work has been spotty (Ghosts of Mars...*shudder*), but it may very well be that the time off has recharged his batteries, so to speak. I've always thought this concept had potential for a visually stunning film, and you KNOW with Carpenter he'll at least deliver on that front!
