Cold Blood

Was fighting a man-cold this weekend and ended up watching hours and hours of Animal Planet's Fatal Attractions marathon. Fascinating series. It's a well-produced character study of individuals who call dangerous animals and reptiles their pets. And sadly, most of the cases end with both the pet owner and the pet(s) being killed.

Click below for a sample.

Chilling drawing by a man who witnessed his neighbor who had been partially devoured by his pets after he died from an infectious bite by one of his critters.

Even the cute ones can get you in the end.

Did you ever get any cases like that?

Man this stuff is riveting! I was torn between this show and "When Chimps Attack" this weekend.

Also, I saw that Man-Cold segment a few months ago and nearly died laughing. For some reason my husband didn't find it as ammusing. :)

This show featured the horrible tale of Travis the chimp. That's my personal nightmare. No one should ever own a chimp as a pet. I have an intense hatred for chimps.

That link is brilliant *and* correct!! I agree, nobody should!

I realized just now that what I was watching was actually Fatal Attractions, missed the Travis episode but did see the episode about Moe the chimp. 4 chimps attacked Moe's owners at the sanctuary when they visited Moe.

The creepiest part for me was when they said that all signs pointed to this being a premeditated event by the chimps...

Yes I have. I've had dogs who've eaten their masters. Kitties do too.

Yup.. Saw that.
So horrible. Truly horrible.

Fascinating show. I was blown away by the similarity of the profiles of the people who own venemous snakes...
loners who feel their pets recognize and appreciate them.

My girlfriend recorded the Oprah episode where Travis the Chimp's victim gave her first interview and showed her face...

Takes a lot to really get under my skin, but that was plenty.

I agree.
That is such a tragic story. Just horrible.

They should have a database which shows where all of the pet chimps are located in the U.S.

We have a right to know.
