Remembering Ben Tramer (1961-1978)

From THETASTEBASKET.COM:

The overwhelming smell of rubber attacked his nostrils and between that and the beer, Ben was ready to puke.  As he continued his slow prowl toward the end of the sidewalk, he took notice of something ahead of him.  As he squinted and blinked hard to clear up his focus, he could make out a belligerent old man running in his direction.  It was alarming at first, but what truly triggered Ben’s immediate flight response was when he saw that the crazed old man was wielding a gun, cocked and aimed right at him.

Feeling extra queasy now, Ben slowly maneuvered his entire body the other way.  He had to get out of the crosshairs.  He had a phone call to make and a girl to spend his future with.  Ben made his way to the street and kept looking back at the old man, who seemed to still be clutching the gun.  Ben kept his eyes locked on the old man, trying to make out what was happening, and by the time he turned back around and looked ahead of him, it was too late.  Haddonfield’s real boogeyman.

The last thing Ben could see was the flashing blue and red lights on top of a police car. With a deafening screech, the car hit Ben, plunging him forward.  Folded over the hood, Ben thought of Laurie.  The police car still didn’t stop.  In fact it didn’t seem to slow down at all.  Within seconds, it was all over for Ben.  The police car crashed directly into a parked white van, pinning him between both vehicles, and immediately sparked a giant explosion, engulfing Ben in flames.

It’s a fact: The most brutal death in any of the nine Michael Myers Halloween films is not caused by Michael Myers.

I think the officer who was driving the car that killed poor old Ben should of been tested to see if he was having some Halloween Schnapps mixed in his coffee..........

That police officer literally commits vehicular homicide, the van bursts into flames and nobody even cares. "Sorry Ben, but we're looking for Michael Myers. Let's go!!" I love this post!!

Only on a recent rewatch did I realize how completely insane this film is!

I have no recollection of that bday thing!
Though poor Ben Tramer, if alive, would be WAY older than me!

I can only hope that had Loomis not been grabbed by the sheriff that he would have noticed that it wasn't actually Myers, but some poor kid carrying a trick or treat bag (kid = drunk 18 year old guy).
Though the damage would have been done...as poor Ben Tramer clearly changed direction from the safe sidewalk to the Street of Death.

Street of Death! Lol! The more I watch that part the more I'm like, DAMN! That police car nailed him! Lol. What Laurie saw in him I'll never know....

I can only imagine that the driver was in a state of shock with learning of the murders that occurred earlier in the evening. And I can't recall if the driver was the one who came up to the Sheriff with the bad news of the Sheriff's daughter being one of the murdered!

Laurie... terrible choice in men.
And Adam Arkin was no rose either...in H2O ..haha (actually I think he WAS a great guy in that film [I can't remember])..
She'd probably be gunning for Busta Rhymes eventually.

Lol. No words.

Also, as I ponder the deep philosophical truths of Halloween and Ben tramer's mortality, I can't help but also LOL at the rumor that Jaime Lee has , and I quote, "Stink Breath". Do you remember hearing that rumor after True Lies? Now EVERY TIME I see her in a romantic part and I immediately think it. So like, when Adam Arkin and her were kissing. LOL. And seriously he was a way good guy in Hallowen H20. She had issues.

NO!
I have NEVER heard that...and wish I never had! : D
