i saw BOO one. HaHAHAHHAHAHAH!!! we like seriously walked outta one movie & seating had just opened up at that very moment for BOO & we just totally ran in. movie theft. i feel bad. nahhh. not really. hahaha. Madea IS my girl. xoxoxo
i'm off for the REAL trailer now!!! OMG..i'm SO nervous for some reason. Excitement i guess.
Gahhhhhhhhhhh. the little Halloween Haunt scenes were lovely!!!! it felt like a cross between JC's & Rob Zombie's Halloween. like their baby!!! still don't care for the prison scene tho...maybe, it will feel differently all together & on the big screen.
yeah..gonna watch this again a few times and stew on it.
i agree...has a Zombie feel to it...with the grit of the mask and violence... I feel like they're doing that thing Abrams does so well (but i'm not a fan of)...they're pressing our nostalgia buttons. As a friend pointed out...is the british accents a weird way of pressing our Loomis button? The inmates on the road...the first Halloween film with the inmates on the lawn in the dark..... ?
Weird that they're erasing the events of Halloween II... i shall save the rest of my feelings after I think about things.... and plop them in a blog post. HAHA
i'm not a fan of Abrams. that prison scene & that Loomis (actor) dude..not good. i don't care for BIG. trailers are hard. i have actually loved some movies i thought i was going to dislike because of the trailer & some movies i loved the trailer & hated the actual movie. we won't really know until October.
i just watched it again. toward the end..there's like a Norman Bates mother window scene..with Michael. & then Laurie shoots at him. hmmmmmm..is that just an accident? or is it an homage to Psycho. like Jamie getting a shot in for Marion Crane played by her mom..Janet Leigh. HAHAHAHHA...i do wonder tho.
we don't need no british accents period..... the sun DOES set on the british empire you fuckers..thank you very much!! & Halloween 2..shouldn't be X out.
i'm keepin my nostalgia (all my) buttons on tight watch!!!!
the Gov's Loomis doesn't really have a british accent..he actually does a little bit of an american one..not strong just suggestive. but..i do think his accent changes from sequel to sequel tho. & there's always the mid-atlantic accent. like james earl jones uses for his darth vader. that's always a safe one. slightly british but not fully. sorta regal.
those teeth man!!! hahahahhaha. i just wanna pick em up & save em in a jar. : )
hey...& i have another thought about that wacky prison. they really went for that victorian asylum thing. look at that checkerboard pattern on the grounds. omg..you couldn't have a pattern like that around the criminally insane. it would drive them xtra bonkers. i guess the checkerboard pattern represents something? it's like a giant chessboard. like a game of sorts is coming up. AND..i bet there's gonna be some kinda crazy ass twist!!!
i think Danny McBride shoulda played the psychiatrist dude. but..like as his character Red..from Pineapple Express. i'll keep his dialogue to myself tho. hahahaha
you know, i had no problem with design as I feel like insane asylums are those things in movies that are a complete figment of the imagination. Like the silly chambers in HANNIBAL or Silence of the Lambs.... just one of those horror tropes where so much creative liberties are taken that it has become some crazy outlandish fable.
though i looked "asylum for the criminally insane" as I can't say i've ever seen a story on one...and they sound like the asylum in Halloween iv... here's the story: https://www.thedailybeast.com/inside-a-hospital-for-the-criminally-insane
I'm excited to see that they have "referenced" scenes from prior Halloween sequels such as the gas station restroom scene which is almost identical to the rest stop scene in Halloween H20.
i loved the heavy stylization of HANNIBAL..it always managed to feel cohesive to me & so easily too. it never took me out of story. the prison scene in this Halloween trailer totally took me out of the story..which is probably strange because it's only a clip & not the full story, but, it really threw me with the rest of the previews vibe. felt out of place to me.
that article was horrifying. omg. it got me thinking of the documentary Cropsey & it's footage of Willowbrook Mental Institution. So terrible. i really can't imagine them any other way in real life. : (
I like the overall vibe of it, definitely pushed my nostalgia buttons as was said. I'm not getting the Zombie feeling though. I'm not disappointed in the way I was with those two films and the Nightmare remake. Looking forward to it if only as an event.
As Dave McRae said recently, there was too much showing of Michael. I still have hope, but too much Michael in this trailer for my liking. I think , my prediction, is that the scene with the babysitter at the end getting attacked by Myers Hiding in the closet will end up being fake. Or a dream. Or something like that. It just seems way too forward.
Exactly, Jeff! The girl’s response seems off, too. Like she didn’t even appear to scream. Weird...lord knows she saw him for long enough standing there. With the light on...a prank would be pretty cool. Like one of her friends hiding in there. That’s clever.
To me the "too much Myers" thing is all about the fear that if we're seeing this much of this guy in the trailer, that there's going to be a heck of a lot more of him in the film, and Myers works better, to me, when he's not on the screen a lot by way of full frontal Myers. I want shadows...I want a throwback to the first AND second film (when Myers walks through the glass door in Halloweeen II, it was startling..as he was fully there...dead in front of our heroes..the final showdown)... I realize this is way unrealistic in today's horror films (THE NUN comes to mind...spooky side horror in a film...and it should have stayed that way...but Hollywood is going to show us her face until we're sick of it). and, God, her BACK STORY. Like we needed one. Or wanted one.
Hoping they scale back the Myers... and he isn't a Jason Voorhees wannabe in this film.
girl6, I think a lot of people feel the same way as myself. They've given away too many main scenes/main vibe of the film too early on in the marketing of it all. Just think how many more trailers will be coming between now and October and how much more they'll show? Wasn't a good move on their part. Don't know why they did that. I want to be surprised by THIS movie. We all know how he looks, but THIS movie is supposed to be different and new and that makes it something that should also spark excitement. I can't be excited if it's all in my face, hanging out. I don't want the Nun in my face, I don't want Michael in my face, I dont want anything full frontal until I'm good and ready for it.
Sara!!!!!!!! You're the girl that told me you LOVED spoilers. You sad something like..you loved & totally didn't mind when people told you ALL about a movie..including the ending. & i told you..that you were like my mom that way. she loved spoilers too. i can't remember which one of Rot's blog postings this exchange happened on, but, it's out there somewhere. maybe is was on the Split post? i dunno know for sure tho.
Lookit..The Halloween Franchise IS $$$$$$. NO matter what..people are going to flock to that movie in DROVES on opening day/might. NOW..if the movie IS bad that will nip the crowds & $$$$$ right in the bud for sure. But..a good preview..a bad preview or a preview showing full frontal Mike IS NOT gong to touch this movie's opening success at all for good or for ill. it's probably like the MOST Anticipated movie release event of the 2000's & maybe even before.
what i mighta done IF i was in charge of marketing is...NO NEW Trailers. i woulda re-released the ORIGINAL 1978 trailer & maybe try to pull the public in with audience participation. release footage of people off the street answering questions like..who's your favourite character or memory from the movie(s) what are you hoping to see in the new film? have a contest with a question like...can you guess the twist or ending in the NEW Halloween movie? i would really do it up & make us..the audience suffer until the movie was released. make fake commercials like..get your MM trick or treat coupons at McDonald's. a MM mask commercial. it's limitless.
& like i said to bubbles up above..i WANT the NUN's backstory. i'm a HUGE James Wan fan. i'm a HUGE Fan of Lucio Fulci's evil nun movie.."Demonia" (i have a Demonia portrait that i won at a horror convention hanging up in my walkin closet) & i'm also a HUGE John Waters fan as well..so i'm hoping that maybe the Nun will give Roaary Jobs..hahahha. but..i think James is too classy & won't do the whole rosary job thing.
Lol I do think I said I love spoilers. However I think I meant spoilers for movies I will not be seeing. I saw Hereditary and knew I was going to so I stopped watching trailers altogether. It was so much more satisfying. Yeah I definitely meant spoilers are great for me when I don’t plan on seeing the film in the near future.

i'm STILL SO Excited tho!!!!! hahaha
ok...i'm done.
haha..i've been ranting on and off all day about this trailer.
overall it's good ranting though.
and the franchise needed some more energy...and many a sequel needed to be erased.
hey...& i have another thought about that wacky prison.

god..so many typos/missing words...sorry!
Man, this looks good. Gettin psyched!

Totally agree about too much of the Myers.
And you're right about that closet thing...though I fear it's NOT a dream
HAHAHAHAH!!!...way too much of the Myers.
cause i didn't already know what he looked like before this trailer.
hahahahha
funny.
Closet sequence was awful. Hope it's a prank. If not, why reveal it in a trailer?
