A neat way to spend the 5th of November... at the annual Guy Fawkes Dinner at a favorite restaurant.
Cool menu:
Appetizers
Scotch Egg with Hot Sauce
or
Ploughman's Platter
Entrees
Chicken, Bacon & Mushroom Pie
or
Sunday Roast with Bubble & Squeak
Desserts
Sticky Toffee Pudding
or
Pear Trifle
They also do a Halloween event each Halloween that I'll never be able to attend, nor would be brave enough to try:
Grilled Jamison lamb kidney skewer, oregano, preserved lemon, and roasted garlic dressing
Cricket "fried" rice
Beef heart tartare, griggstown eggyolk, sea salt, ketchup chips
Crisp veal brains, celery root puree, celery leaf and heirloom apple, brown butter-cider vinaigrette
Braised lengua, mole verde, red onion, queso fresco, radish with home made huitlacoche tortillas
Uni carbonara, squid ink spaghetti, pancetta, onions, bottarga

Ha, today is our anniversery! We just remembered yesterday! We are both almost passed out on the couch with two cats and one teen. It happens every year. Lame- o....
Happy Anniversary!
Neat day to have it.
I'll burn an effigy in your honor.
That Halloween menu sounds gross but I bet it is oh so delicious.
agreed. if there's one place I'd try any of those things, it's this place. Never had anything I didn't love.
Nice atmosphere too.
I love it!:)
It's also a Beaver Moon tonight, so there's that. LOL.
Happy Anniversary Willow Cove!
Halloween Menu:
Poached Beaver Tail with Wood Sprinkles
See? Fits perfectly.
I bet proper etiquette dictates that beaver tail is to be eaten with two hands, like a chicken leg.
And I'm picturing it tasting/looking like a heavy thick brown waffle.
Ok, I have to ask...what and where is this restaraunt!??!? I would make that Halloween menu a part of a special trip, sounds verrrry intriguing.
Sounds incredible..please post some shots of your fire, assuming you put one on!
I marked the day by wearing my Guy Fawkes mask all day around town. With my long black coat and matching fedora, I looked V from "V for Vendetta". People seemed to get a huge kick out of it. I even had a bunch of school kids jumping up and down and screaming "V"! V!" at me when I walked by. Good times.
a far drive for us, but it was worth it...it's the Yardley Inn in Yardley, PA.
this looks awesome
I'm now obsessed with Scotch Eggs.
awwww man, i saw the pic & thought is was a "nightmare on elm street" shot, like Freddy on fire!.. then i read the menu as , "cricket fried twice!"...hahaha..my eyes..ugggggh i need glasses for sure.
yeah, i remember you posting about this place last year, at this time. it's a MUST visit it seems..<3
Totally Freddy : )
