Stupid Ghosts

I love the idea behind those projections people play in their front windows...  but watching a bad low-tier actor/actress mimic an evil ghost is enough to take years off of my life.  Some company needs to hire someone to build a puppet to be manipulated and filmed and then injected into scenes like the one in the video below.

I offer my services.

And click here for another video (this is the one that got me all fired up about this topic).

hmmm..i am not familiar with these.
are they maybe, supposed to be sorta comical or funny bad? i say that, because they remind me of some of the ghost scenes in both, "the frighteners" & "beetlejuice"... i don't know.

The production values are good but they never feel very serious. We have held off incorporating projection until we can create our own film.

I agree. Though some companies make some really flawless ghost fx. They are more commonplace. I always wanted to film a puppet like the poltergeist creature or Raiders ark spirit. Old school in a black water tank and then project it.

I'm a Pepper's Ghost man, myself. Projections look like projections, but combine footage of a (well-acted) ghost with the Pepper's Ghost illusion, you will have most everyone scratching their heads.

Well....I actually use that very projection in my haunt (hangs head in shame). I don't actually play the sound though. I just have her show up in one of the upper windows of the house. To me, she's far creepier that way, since it appears she's trying to communicate, but cannot. I also prefer for her to be more of a subtle presence, not the focal point of the entire scene. I'd love to see a really cool puppet effect one...maybe you should produce one? Mr. Glassett could provide a fantastic soundtrack!

I came on too strongly about these things. I was more hung up on the lack of variety in them...like I need to see a poltergeist-like creature...or a skeletal ghost figure.

No you didn't, they're awful! And when you see the same ghosts "haunting" different homes in your neighborhood....uugh!

Can we rant about the crap in the spirit of Halloween stores now?!!

I like the projections, but love the FCG so much. I hope to build one soon. I have tho motor and everything, just haven't gotten to it.

Same projections I got this year! It was a nice switch from the apothecary setup!

I do agree with the lack of variety. Fortunately, no one else in my neck of the woods used any. Like I said though, mine is more of an accent though, not a central part of my haunt.
