Must........Have........

Never knew there was such a thing as a life-sized radio-controlled flying witch.

Here's a video of her in flight.

Found her here.

Halloween Pencils

I always manage to accumulate a nice collection of Halloween pencils each year, so it was neat to find a blog called Pencil Revolution (dealing in matters of pencil philosophy) which happened to have a really neat photo of a bunch of seasonal pencils.

Parts of a Halloween Party

Found this cool appetizer recipe on canarygirl.com for what I'm assuming would be the world's coolest Halloween party.

Ingredients:
8 ounces orange cheese (I used aged cheddar last year, but it was pretty crumbly, so I’d recommend a softer cheese)10 pretzel sticks (about)parsley leaves for decoration

Preparation:
Form cheese into “pumpkin” shapes and arrange on a plate.Just before serving, insert pretzel stick pieces into the pumpkins for stems, and garnish with parsley leaves.

Something about folk art really really appeals to me. I'm digging the style of these decorations (I refuse to call them 'dolls'). The site offers both completed items or patterns, so you can make your own. Here are a few of my favorites:

Impress Your [Halloween] Friends

Want to know everything there is to know about Halloween?
Grab Lisa Morton's The Halloween Encyclopedia. A meticulous resource on the holiday, it's loaded A to Z and includes two appendices - a Halloween chronology and Halloween in literature and the arts (including film).
Money very well spent.
Lisa Morton has a wonderful site as well: Halloween.LisaMorton.com
And she includes a very impressive Halloween bibliography here.
