Alien Agenda

Jacobs suggests that the abduction phenomenon is not a benevolent, other-dimensional spiritual experience like so many people report. Rather, Jacobs’ research through hypnotic regression with alleged alien abductees suggests that alien-human hybrids are engaged in a covert program of infiltration into human society worldwide. “These human hybrids are training to live here,” Jacobs asserts, “and they are being trained by the abductees.” And what is the end game according to Dr. David Jacobs? “The planetary acquisition through the creation of human-like hybrids.” “The more you look at this”, says Jacobs, “the more rational it becomes.”

As someone who has looked into this strangeness for years, I've always found it odd that a race of superior beings would have to study us for decades and decades.  Like what else is there to learn?  A human's a human.  So as fun as it is to be terrified of the alien abduction phenomena, it was somewhat comforting to know that it just didn't make sense.

Well, if you're going to buy that this is actually happening, and abductees aren't crazy, then the latest theories by Dr. David Jacobs are pretty fascinating.  And terrifying.  In a fun and disgustingly horrifying manner.  It's almost too terrifying to consider as even a possibility.  Naturally, I'm considering it.  Mostly at night.  When I'm trying to sleep.  Usually after hearing a noise.

Cadabra Records

Very curious about these albums/records.  Wishing there were short samples of what these are like, though the artwork alone would be worth it.

Onion Grass

I wanted to tell this story before I forgot.

A while back, I learned that the old farmer who found it would eat breakfast at the same diner each and every Wednesday morning. I made sure I was there that day, and waited until he stood to leave before I kindly pulled him aside and asked him if the story were true, and if he’d show it to me. I had been warned about his tired indifference to this request, since most of the people in this side of the state had asked him the same two questions. After I introduced myself, he seemed a little confused, or hard of hearing, and asked me to repeat my name. After I did so, he told me I should follow him to his farm.

It was late October, so the drive to his rural home was a welcome change from my daily life of routine. I was feeling proud of myself for taking this chance and actually following through with a personal goal, even though it might have been perceived as a peculiar one. I watched his old truck ahead of me, slightly swerving on the bumpy dirt road, kicking up clouds of dust that quickly floated off across brown acres of brittle bent corn. According to some folks in the diner, it had been a very dry season and I wondered about this old farmer in front of me, and if his life had been affected by the drought. Admittedly, I know nothing of farming, and my life of gray walls and cubicles started to feel something of an embarrassment to me. A feeling which started with our handshake back at the diner. This old man's hands were massive things. His life of hard work created them, and my hand felt dwarfed and weak being gripped by his.

We turned onto a gravel road lined by enormous sycamore trees. Their patchy flaking bark reminded me of the pieces of a puzzle. They seemed to get taller, wider, and whiter as we got closer to his farm. I watched him drive through an open gate past the last two trees. He parked under a rusty metal carport attached to the side of his barn. Both structures looked like they were pushing into each other, and his garage was winning. The barn looked tired. And unsafe. It was bursting with old farm equipment, tires, hoses, rows of rusted paint cans, and the frames of two old tractors.

And I hoped that he wasn't keeping it inside.

Now Playing: Storm Of The Century

This penultimate cue of the mini-series soundtrack was something of a Holy Grail back in the day.  I really dug the series, and I recall finding the entire thing very unnerving and the villain really scary.

Our Friends

Smell Like A Noisy Ghost

I HAVE INTENSELY FRAGRANT MEMORIES FROM MY TIME IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. THE AIR HEAVY WITH THE SMOKE OF BLAZING BURN PILES FILLED WITH SCORCHED LEAVES AND TIMBER. LONG WALKS THROUGH THE WOODS PERMEATED BY THE UNMISTAKABLE PERFUME OF MOSS, MUSHROOMS, PINE NEEDLES AND LEAVES EMANATING FROM THE FOREST FLOOR. I LONGED FOR A FRAGRANCE THAT MARRIED THESE TWO DISTINCT OLFACTORY EXPERIENCES: GREEN AND SMOKE. UNABLE TO FIND WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR, I CREATED POLTERGEIST AND NAMED IT AFTER MY FAVORITE ELUSIVE SPIRIT — A SUPERNATURAL BEING THAT MAKES ITS PRESENCE KNOWN THROUGH PHYSICAL DISTURBANCES OR LOUD NOISES. INSPIRED BY THAT FEARLESS ENERGY, THIS “NOISY” FRAGRANCE FEATURES INTENSE GREEN SCENTS PAIRED WITH A DEEP, HAUNTING SMOKINESS THAT LINGERS ON THE SKIN.

TOP: WORMWOOD, PINE, GERANIUM
MIDDLE: NEROLI
BASE: MYRRH, BIRCH TAR, OAKMOSS

Camp Crystal Lake Sleepover

Another Friday the 13th is coming up in April, which means fans of slasher movie icon Jason Voorhees have another chance to see the New Jersey campground where his first "Friday the 13th" flick was filmed.

Because it is an active Boy Scout camp, the site is normally closed off to visitors. The popularity and limited space of the tours have made it difficult to obtain tickets, which have sold out in minutes for previous events.

This time, the camp is changing its system and extending events to a second day — and setting up overnight VIP tours with a special guest.

Dead Vampires

Or, rather, staked vampires...as they're already dead I suppose.

Was looking at these old (somewhat chill-inducing/cheesy) photos and realized that you don't really see many dead vampires in yard haunts.  It'd be fun to see a line of upright coffins with a staked, skeletal vampire in each.

A VERY long time ago, I had sketched and planned to do a "Vampire at Dawn" prop photo shoot where a vampire like the one kneeling below (but with loads more flesh on it) was on a hill at sunrise, surrounded by a circle of crosses and crucifixes.  And chained to the ground like a dog wearing a heavy chained collar.  His hand was raised blocking his face from the morning sun.  Futile, of course.  As his entire body would be emitting loads of smoke (from loads of hidden smoke bombs dropped into body cavities that were built for that purpose).

The photo shoot that never was.
