Now Playing: Traces

By Visions, from the Cyclic Law label.

Hugely appreciative of online sources of Dark Ambient music.  Back in the early 90's, when I first discovered this odd and wonderful genre of music in a world void of the Internet, I never could have imagined multiple record labels offering loads of incredible "projects" (that's what we call Dark Ambient groups).

Here are some of the best:

Cyclic Law

Cryo Chamber

Godzilla: King Of The Monsters

Saw this film over the weekend and absolutely loved it  I felt like a child again seeing massive beautiful monsters.  And what I wasn't expecting was that they were scary.  Rodan and Ghidorah were menacing and you felt it.  And you wanted to see them defeated.

I thought the below video showing the scoring sessions felt a lot like the way the film felt.

Now Playing: Terror In The Skies

Bought this latest documentary by Small Town Monsters last night and absolutely loved it.  The production value was off the charts...the cinematography and animations were stellar.  Even the 3D still photography was super impressive.  And so many beautiful shots of abandoned structures and farmland desolation.

Brandon Dalo's score was exceptional.  Such a huge fan of his work.

I highly recommend this documentary.  It'll leave you wanting more.

Guanajuato

A piece from MANY years ago with memories of Guanajuato. I once stumbled across a carnival at night that went on for a few city blocks while traveling in Guanajuato, Mexico. There were lots of white lights and white rides and white game stands and pure happiness. It was enchanting. When I went to seek it out the next morning, it was completely gone with no trace- no flyers, no confetti on the ground- no signs of any kind of event; like it never existed. I wandered around the general area thinking I was lost for not locating it. When I asked a man at a corner store if there had been a carnival around here, he said with a twinkle in his eye, “Ahhh, lo que usted tuvo fue una iluminación.” - What you experienced was an illumination.
