Mr. Haunted Eve's teenage horror host favorite was Stella "The Man-eater From Manayunk" who hosted "Saturday Night Dead" in the 80's. It was on channel 3 in Philadelphia and came on after Saturday Night Live. I grew up in northwestern NJ and we could get both NYC and Philly channels with our over-the-air TV antenna. I have some faint memories of Zacherle on WPIX back then as well, something to do with them broadcasting an old horror movie in 3D, but I always found Stella more fun to watch.
I loved Stella as well....and grew up on Dr Shock.
