I wanted to make a blog post out of a neat blog comment that was left tonight.
A comment from someone in the Halloween community who is keeping the torch burning and helping to create nostalgia in the classroom.
The old post is here and it featured the below photo.

You will be happy to know that I have the smaller version of that skeleton and that exact witch hanging in my 6th grade classroom on the 1st of October. That witch is part of a nice package that Beistle sells. I love using the retro decorations combined with modern LEDs in my classroom. The kids get a kick out of them. Certainly helps with building up the hype to Halloween. I want to start playing the Silver Shamrock countdown this year. As much as I need to be home setting up the house, there is something really fun and magical about being in a middle school on Halloween. Even these modern kids who grew up too fast because of the internet can still experience the wonder and excitement of that day and night, at least in my corner of the world.

Celebrating Halloween in school was so formative for me...the short stories, the decorations, costume contests, the music...cheers to the teachers that keep it going!
Yeah I totally agree. It really helped me get on the right path having Halloween celebrated in my grade school
This was great to read.
In an era where I see things like 'Trunk or Treat' taking hold, and I keep reading about schools pushing Halloween out entirely, it's encouraging to know that there are teachers out there keeping the flame burning.
It's also nice to read some anecdotal indications that today's kids aren't too cool and jaded for the old school stuff to still have some appeal.
Having the whole month of October be one big countdown was a big deal way-back-when, and I really hope that it's still going on more than I fear that it is.
Wow, thanks for showcasing my comment. You are all correct, the smallest attention to detail can have a lasting effect. One of my side goals as a teacher is to make sure kids can have similar experiences to what I had growing up. Traditions are fun and kids will be invested if they sense you are invested.
Agreed! I remember this post, as you see it brings me back to my elementary school 3rd,maybee 4th grade,so 93,94ish. We had decorated the classroom and this exact( in my head) skeleton was hung in our classroom, however I seemed to be the only kid that was overly exited about it, lol.
