Harold
So they left Harold sitting in the corner of the hut. They didn't talk to him or take him outside anymore. Now and then the doll grunted, but that was all. After a few days, they decided there was nothing to be afraid of. Maybe a mouse or some insects had gotten inside Harold and were making those sounds.
So Thomas and Alfred went back to their old ways. Each morning they put Harold out in the garden, and each night they brought him back into the hut. When they felt playful, they joked with him. When they felt mean, they treated him as badly as ever.
Then one night Alfred noticed something that frightened him. "Harold is growing," he said.

Now Reading: Witches
A beautifully illustrated book that reminded me of all the strange and wonderful books of the unexplained and paranormal that I'd check out at the school library when I was growing up (while sending out red flags galore). This one was a recommendation by my friend Wren, and after she showed me some of the artwork, I snagged a used copy for myself.

The Masks Of The Halloween Tree
If you've read Ray Bradbury's The Halloween Tree, you know the illustrations below very well. They appear with each new chapter page in his wonderful book. Joseph Mugnaini's artwork, at this point, is as much a part of The Halloween Tree as Bradbury's own words.

Let's Find Out About Halloween: Hard Cover
Had an evening filled with debauchery (Italian food and a martini [and maybe a lot of wine]) hanging with my brother, and the guy surprised me with a gift: a hard cover, library edition version of our favorite childhood Halloween book. Pretty cool gift I'd say. And neat as it has different coloring than the version we grew up with.... a neat pale blue ink.

The Art Of Ian Fennelly
Absolutely love this style...
Reminds me of the illustrations you'd see in the old books of my grade school years.
