John Carpenter's Darkchylde

My bud Randy shared some amazing news with me.

Master of Horror set to bring you the girl of your dreams. John Carpenter is onboard to direct Darkchylde, based on the comic by Randy Queen about a good hearted southern teen cursed to become the creatures from her many recurring nightmares. Every time Ariel Chylde transforms, she sheds her skin and a new nightmare emerges from her Id to act out her deepest, darkest impulses.

Congrats, Randy! Well-deserved and just the most insane of news.
And I apologize for thinking it was a joke when you first sent me the story!
But John-Freaking-Carpenter, man!

Darkchylde

Artist (and fan of the blog) Randy Queen has created a live-action trailer for his comic creation Darkchylde. Pretty cool to see this concept being pitched for the big screen.

Darkchylde is the tale of a good hearted southern teen cursed to become the creatures from her many recurring nightmares. Creatures that destroy all she holds dear. Offering a stark contrast to super hero comics, the title was a breakout sensation of the late 90's and early 2000's, garnering creator Randy Queen immediate acclaim, and an unusually large female fanbase. The property went on to outsell Spider-Man, Superman, and Batman in both domestic and foreign audiences.

Cursed

Darkchylde is the story of a cursed teen who can become the creatures from her many nightmares, and then must save her small town from the forces of darkness she's set free.

Ariel Chylde was created by artist Randy Queen, a friend and fellow worshipper of all things Halloween.

She even has her own sculpture:
