Infestation

Spiderfest spiders happily taking their turn slurping the juicy innards out of Ms. Muffet.

Looks like my guy on the left is starting to let gravity get the best of one of his legs.

I'd like to request that the Davis family take him out to some wooded area and leave him up in a visible tree branch near a path...jammed into a crevice somewhere. So he can have one last thrill before he turns into mush.

My SpiderFest Spider

Banana spiders are like the devil to me.
This guy's banana abdomen is a little over 12 inches long.
I'll be boxing him up and shipping him to the Davis house this week.
He's going solo - my smaller spider just wasn't doing it for me, so I scooped him up on a napkin and let him out into the yard.

The tips of his legs are made to fold inward (bendable wire).
So I can squeeze him into the box.

Spiderfest 2010

This weekend I'll start on my spiders for the Davis Graveyard Spiderfest event.
Going to make two.

Looking forward to it. Haven't built a spider since back in the late 80s. And that was the huge one. I remember building that lady with my brother. We used flour and water and newspaper strips. We saved up paper towel rolls for months. But we only taped the joints, so the cardboard tubes were exposed to the moisture of the mache. What an oversight. We went into the garage to check on our giant spider and her legs were flopped to the ground like giant noodles. After that, I think we had strings supporting the legs from the ceiling and fifty sticks holding the legs in place until they dried.

Spiders Abound

Really excited about this. I have two spiders planned, each very different from the other.
