Pumpkins II
WATCHDOGS
Flat blonde seeds big
as my thumbnail and shaped
like pointed footballs, we planted five
to a hill in our creekside garden.
You wouldn't believe the tangled
vines running every which way. Butter-
yellow blossoms slowly swelled to green
balloons. By fall they'd turned orange,
grown huge: lots I couldn't carry.
I helped Dad carve jagged-tooth faces;
we lit candle stubs, left them wavering,
set two on our front porch.
They looked neat from the road -
so bright,
scary.

Bones and Skulls and Halloween
I'll be posting some haunts that I really dig.
The best place to start is SkullandBone.com, my personal favorite. The atmosphere that this guy creates is always stunning. His attention to detail is something I've never been able to achieve in my own haunt. Bravo, my friend.

New Brewing Page...
Been testing the format of this new Brewing page and I like it a lot. Got tired of updating the old one in Dreamweaver. So here are a few of the photos from the old page to launch the new page into 2008.

Pumpkins
I found that carving my pumpkins days before Halloween and allowing them to rot and mold up a bit added some great and creepy quality to the lanterns on Halloween night.
With the help of some wire hangers, and some inspiration from Bradbury's THE HALLOWEEN TREE and a book called The Abingdon Party Book (the chapter "A Halloween Frolic"), I hung some small pumpkins from the tree. I think I'll be doing this every year.
