Traditionally, the photo shoot for the annual Halloween display is done on the late afternoon and night of October 30th. Due to the remnants of a hurricane hitting this region today, I bumped everything up a day and thankfully was successful in getting a bunch of day and night shots in the bag. So look here tomorrow morning for some photos and a link to my Instagram account, where I'll be posting a haunt video.
Halloween is supposed to be cool and clear and extremely WINDY... so hopefully all goes well!
Good luck out there!

Good luck Rot - sounds like the weather will present some unexpected challenges this year but I am sure your display will be amazing.
We had to do the same thing. Our initial plan was to set up the haunt in phases with Wednesday being pumpkin carving day and Thursday morning/afternoon being the final haunt setup day so we could take photos either Thursday or Halloween night. When we saw the forecast for the next several days as of Tuesday, we knew we had to hustle to get the haunt 100% set up Tuesday and Wednesday and do the photo shoot last night because it's 42 degrees here today and pouring rain. Our Halloween forecast is rain and strong winds although perhaps we'll get a calm window between 6 PM and 9 PM (it's happened in the past). It is what it is, and the haunt is immortalized in photos, but it's disappointing when the weather doesn't cooperate for trick-or-treating or prevent us from using all the haunt effects (fog machines don't mix well with strong wind and rain) and keeps us biting our nails that our prop engineering was good enough for them to remain standing in stronger than normal winds. We're already switching focus to our Halloween 2026 haunt theme. We keep saying one of these years we're going to get the Halloween trifecta: a warm, dry, and calm Halloween night... like the one we got way back in 2003. We're still waiting to for the planets and stars to align like that again. Starting to think winning the lottery has better chances!
Thanks! I got some great shots and videos thankfully! Today my display looks like a swamp... I brought everything into the house last night, thankfully.
Hoping you get some dry weather! Praying the winds aren't as bad as they are saying. Wind is a close second to the Haunter's worst enemy... rain.
I'm glad to know that you were in a position to adjust on the fly, and am hoping that things can dry out a bit for you!
Hopefully, the wind will be more mild than predicted, too.
I had the wind and rain come through yesterday and had to call an audible, as well. The annual Great Pumpkin Project activities got swapped from their traditional spot on the night of the 30th to last night instead, and now I'm spending this morning cleaning up the display damage and detritus.
We had downed branches everywhere, lost an entire TREE, and now have a few props on the operating table.
No matter how experienced, or how meticulous the planning, we're all at the mercy of the elements.
It's always a moonshot....months of planning, consideration, and effort for a tiny window of opportunity on a single night that can all be undone by wind, rain, or a significant drop in temperature.
Best of luck to everyone!
God, so sorry about the tree! Dreading the high winds combined with a saturated ground. I had to laugh as I was worried about having enough leaves and now every inch of every lawn, sidewalk, and street is covered with them.
