Saw this gem of a horror film on Saturday and I keep finding myself thinking about it. Saying this movie has atmosphere is an understatement. I was already in love with the film by the time I spotted some delightfully crabby jack o'lanterns above a hotel entrance. Turns out the film is set during the Halloween season (an added bonus). Carved turnips and small squash abound.
Adam Scott was brilliant and I can't imagine another actor in the role. So glad I saw this in the theater too (was planning to wait for it to stream).

I noticed the JOL's immediately in that scene as well when I saw it. It is definitely worth repeated viewings once it's streaming on TV, hopefully just in time for Halloween. The ending scenes in the basement were awesome, particularly once the Witch is revealed and we see the punishment she doles out to the film's antagonist.
8.5/10
Loved, loved, loved this movie. Good horror films are somewhat rare but I enjoyed every minute of Hokum. Atmosphere for miles and the witch was awesome. It’s genuinely scary. I also appreciated the fact that their Irish JOLs were made from turnips.
This looks very good!
