Willow Creek

Buried Alive

A great fear of mine as a child.

Entering The Kingdom

The crows see me.
They stretch their glossy necks
In the tallest branches
Of green trees. I am
Possibly dangerous, I am
Entering the kingdom.

The dream of my life
Is to lie down by a slow river
And stare at the light in the trees-
To learn something by being nothing
A little while but the rich
Lens of attention.

But the crows puff their feathers and cry
Between me and the sun,
And I should go now.
They know me for what I am.
No dreamer,
No eater of leaves.

Dia De Los Muertos

A suitably rich and gorgeous candle to honor the traditional Mexican holiday that celebrates the memories of our loved ones who have passed away. A mélange of devotional frankincense and fragrant marigolds (the traditional flower used to decorate the altars on Dia de los Muertos -- their scent is believed to attract souls and draw them back) creates a deep, delicious, spicy complexity that will give a warm welcome to anyone, spirit or otherwise, who enters your home. Unique and beautiful.

Exclusive: The Halloween Kid

I'm super thrilled to feature the U.S. premiere of the trailer for Rhode Montijo's The Halloween Kid Animated Special.  As a huge fan of Rhode's artwork and incredible Haunt, I couldn't be more excited to see his work become part of the Halloween TV Special canon.

From Rhode's Facebook page:
The Halloween Kid Animated Special is about a mysterious masked boy who goes beyond his limits to defend Halloween. The special is being animated by Japan's Sanzigen (Black Rock Shooter, Cyborg 009) which is a part of Ultra Super Pictures, and produced in collaboration with Crooked Smile (David Choe and Good Smile Company). The screenplay is written by my good friend and storyboard artist extraordinaire, Jamie Baker.

The half hour special based on Rhode's successful children's book will be released this fall, and I can't wait.

Mystic Ways

Blogging from work stinks, so I can't provide an image, but wanted to share that Mystic Ways is closing its doors and is having a liquidation sale.  Supplies are going fast.

Their incense sticks are the best around and we've used their Clove and Dirt and Anise scents for years.

This is very lame indeed.

Mr. Jones - The Poster

Saw this at shocktillyoudrop.com and had to feature it. It's the poster for MR. JONES, looking very old school and awesome.

I hear in the next two weeks they'll be releasing some footage.

Room 237

A really interesting documentary on the theories behind the imagery of Kubrick's The Shining.  It's more of a study in human perception than a behind-the-scenes making-of.

Nightmares

After watching this film again last night, it was so obvious as to why it has its place in the top Horror Film canon.

Gnome Door Project Update

It's gone.

Remember the gnome door from 2011?

We checked on it once in 2012 and it was still there.  We visited the location this weekend and it was gone.  Judging from the downed trees and branches, it looks like the area was hit really hard by the Halloween hurricane, so I'm thinking the wind and heavy rain washed it away.

Below:  The abandoned gnome home.

Maybe the rain poured down through the top of the stump and forced mud and debris and stump gunk out through the gnome doorway.

Aliens In The Woods

My husband and I went camping this past Saturday. Sunday morning,(August 30th) around 4:00, I woke up to go the the restroom. (There was a building near the campsites that provided restroom and shower facilities.)
It was pitch black outside, except for the light from my lantern and the lights from the building. I went in, did my thing, and as I started to leave to walk back to my tent, I stopped because I felt there was someone behind me.
I turned around and I saw three gray aliens standing in the woods behind the building, near another campsite on the hill in the back.
They didn't seem to be doing anything but standing there. I thought it could have been the people from the campground on the hill, but why would they just be standing in the middle of the woods at 4am for no apparent reason?
When one of them turned and looked at me, I realized they weren't human.
