It's a really atmospheric and genuinely creepy horror film.

This flick is great! It's truly the "proto-slasher", along with Psycho and a few other films. It was a huge influence on Hill & Carpenter when they were fashioning the first "true" slasher film, Halloween. You can see much of the subgenre forming here, and the sense of isolation is truly creepy througout. Highly recommended!
